Is McNabb too sensitive?

WEST is GOD

Before some of you say to yourself "IS HE NUTS?! McNabb has handled every situation with class and a cool and calm attitude and never let it affect his play on the field!!" keep reading. McNabb seems to let things really get to him and take a lot of things personally which means holding grudges. Now when things get to you, you can handle it in a number of ways. McNabb usually comes off as cool and calm about the subject, but you have to recognize the fact that usually he has a couple days at the least to prepare for answering questions on specific matters involving him and the team(minus post-game press conferences which are basically only questions about the game itself). Also if you are a good actor, you can hide your true feelings, and McNabb does have experience acting in chunky soup commercials.  :P

At times I can see through his words and look at simple face expressions and mannerisms. I can still see tension and bitterness in his face when people bring up him being booed at the draft. Now it's good he uses that to motivate himself, but I know deep down he doesn't like the Philly fans because of a few idiots that booed him. I even remember that segment he did with Bradshaw where he said he likes Syracuse fans more than Philly fans, and that annoyed me a bit. When the Rush Limbaugh situation came up, he was cool and calm in the press conference, but when someone catches him off-guard in a locker room, you can see the bitterness in his face. You can hear in his voice that it does bother him. I also think that criticism really gets to him. Now this TO thing comes along, and once again days after TO's original comment McNabb has a while to prepare for the response to the media and doesn't make it look like it bothered him. When you are talking to the media it's easy to dodge questions. Then as more stations talked to him like ESPN and the like, you could tell by looking at him that those comments got to him.

Now is the latest of all things, and that was the ESPYs. I have not seen it and if anyone has a clip of it, I would love to see it, but everyone is saying all over that McNabb just looked like he absolutely did not want to be there. I did see TO do the awards and he looked like he was having a good time, but from what I hear McNabb looked very bitter and looked like things were very awkward. TO did not. Is McNabb too sensitive to criticism? It seems from my point of view that when McNabb can't dodge questions and has to be placed in an awkward situation he doesn't handle it very well. Even if TO did take some stabs at you, you have to at least have a sit down with him or try to make things right for the sake of the team. TO's comments were not warranted, but it's not like he said I hope he dies a horrible death or anything. What does this all mean? McNabb seems to play great regardless of criticism, so I'm not trying to say that McNabb being sensitive will prevent him from winning a Superbowl or anything. I'm just a little concerned for the guy for this season though. If it was that awkward at the ESPYs, it can't help that 2-way chemistry on the field this upcoming season. They need to be on the same page. I know TO did make the little jabs at him, so naturally he should be the one to apologize, but you know he isn't going to. So sometimes the bigger man has to step up and make things right. The bigger man in this situation is Donovan. Do you guys think he's too sensitive?

He's not getting "criticism".  He's taking pot-shteins from an egotistical icehole.  And he's been taking them the whole off-season.

Criticism is dealing with questions of his accuracy, which he's dealt with much of his career.  They certainly haven't seemed to hurt his feelings, or negatively impact his play or growth as a player.

So, in a word, yeah, your nuts. ;)
Anyone but Reid.

McNabb (and TO) will get the job done on the field, where it matters.

TempleOwl

Of course the negative stuff bothers him, he's human!  I'm not sure I get your point.  We have no idea what happens behind the scenes between him and TO and frankly, I don't care.  As long as McNabb uses theses distractions as challenges and rises to the occasion I could care less how he feels as a person he's being paid to play football and to win championships.  That being said, I pesonally think he has more class than most professional athletes and that is all that matters in my mind.

We have no idea how this athletes really feel about anything.  they are actors, they say what they need to say and try to develop an image or persona that they use to brand themselves.  I pay no attention to that stuff.  Just win and I'll be happy...

I'm with TempleOwl here; McNabb is just a dude with his own personality.  Doesn't seem like any sensitivity has impacted his play on the field, so I don't much care how sensitive he is.  Beyond that, if that were true, I doubt he be able to change that much.   But at the end of the day, people do stuff that rubs him the wrong way...just like it would anyone.

I echo the last 2 posts. And no offense, but that's about all this thread will get from me.

PS...don't believe what you "hear". Formulate your own opinions before listening to what others say.

sorry, it's too long for me to read, especially this early in the morning, so i'll just echo PG's sentiments except the whole formulate your own opinions, sometimes it's just easier to use someone elses (like is seen in this post)

I meant on second hand things....like, what someone's opinion was on what McNabb looked like after TO's comments at the ESPYs.

I think McNabb is too sensitive. I also think TO is the greatest WR ever. Freddie Mitchell has amazing hands. Todd Pinkston is scared of his shadow. Simoneau is poop. Trotter is slow and overruns plays. Strahan owns Runyan. Tra Thomas can't handle speed rushers. Andy Reid can't coach in big games. And everything else I've ever heard anyone say about the Eagles.

Believe whatever you want. We'll still win 12 games every year.
Is rjs gonna have to choke a bitch?

McNabb's down for his crown, dawg.  Better recognize.

Maybe McNabb looked stress because he had diarrhea or maybe he felt nauseous that night or maybe his wife didn't put out that day and he was pissed.

You can't assume it was because he was uncomfortable with TO's presence.  Hell, maybe he thinks the ESPY's are BS just like i do.
