did you use the subway system?  i worked on a few stations there
I'm the Anti-Christ. You got me in a vendetta kind of mood.

Sgt PSN

Nah.  Some of what I saw above ground was scary enough that I dared not venture below street level.

I thought I remembered you doing work out there though.  I figured it was one of the stadiums since I think you also did some work on the new Giants stadium, right?  Had I known it was the subway, I'd have definitely gone down there and pissed on it.

One thing I wanted to do but just didn't get around to was hitting up that Primanti (sp?) Brother's joint.  I've been told it's kind of overrated, but still.....when I'm a tourist it's still fun to do tourist things.

ice grillin you

primanti's isnt just overrated its not good at all....ive been to pittsburgh like a dozen times and only went there the first...you didnt miss anything by not going there....i cant recall the name of the place but one time when i was there for a phillies series we went to this brunch before the sunday game....in was in some old refurbished train station or some shtein...anyway it was farging awesome...probably the best brunch ive ever had

Really?  I think you're the 1st person I've heard say that it's just flat out terrible.  I was thinking it would be along the same lines as Geno's or Pat's.....not terrible, but the "experience" of going there would be better than the food itself.  While I'm skeptical of your reviews for comedies, I'll take a food review from you as the gospel.

We did brunch at The Rivers Casino right next to Heinz Field.  It was ok.  Probably because it was a casino in Pittsburgh.  All you could drink Mimosas and Bloody Marys included for $21 though, so at least you can drink until the food tastes good.

Also, the blackjack and roulette tables in this casino were all $10min.  I haven't been to a casino outside of Vegas in like 10 years, so maybe it's normal everywhere else, but wtf?

ice grillin you

to be fair i only went once...got the pastrami...i wasnt a fan of the fries on the sandwich but thats not even what turned me off...the meat itself was completely sub standard....bread was terrible as well

and for the record i love pats....i think its a great steak...tourist trap or not

Last time I went to Pat's, they really skimped on the meat.  It tasted fine, but it was like a 70/30 bread to meat ratio.

My favorite steak joint anywhere is Pudgies in Norristown.  And not that it's going to knock your socks off with the taste (though it's pretty damn good, imo) but they farging overload the thing with meat.  $7 for a footlong that has to weigh like 3lbs.  But I grew up eating there, so I'm probably a little biased.

Those are pretty normal minimums these days. Sometimes on the weekends, or hell just on busy nights, a lot of them get up to $15, but generally the minimum will almost always be $10. I think Delaware Park started doing a thing during the afternoon weekday hours where they take the blackjack tables down to $1.

When i was in Vegas, I got on a $5 minimum roulette table in Treasure Island, first time I ever played roulette.

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

im not an overstuffed sandwich guy...i cant stand them actually...im all about the bread....but i know what you are saying about pats...then can veer towards the not enough meat side...next time you are in the city you should try gooey louies in south phil....the amount of meat on their steaks is insanity

Sgt PSN

Yeah, definitely doesn't have to be overstuffed for me, but if it is I'm not going to complain and send the extra meat back.  Never been to Louie's.  Might check it out the next time I'm down in Philly.  Ever been to Cosmi's?  The couple of times I've been there, I got a pretty good steak that might have been the most perfect sammich I've had strictly in terms of meat to bread ratio.  The meat was like perfectly even with the top and ends of the roll but it was still packed in there pretty well, too.  Not sure if that's the norm for them or if I just got lucky.  Bread was so-so.  The 1st one I ate there and it tasted fine.  The 2nd I took with me and ate it like 15 min later and it was really hard to chew.

If you're ever in a casino that has Pai Gow poker and don't play, you might as well be punching yourself in the nards.

Sgt PSN

I don't even know what Pai Gow poker is, so I'll just punch myself in the nuts right now and get it over with.

yeah ive been to cosmi's numerous times but have always gotten deli...never a steak

Primantis is trash and everyone who lives here and has been outside the Pittsburgh area (a frighteningly small percentage of the population, actually) agrees. The fries are on the vile side and if you get roped into going it's better to get pizza or one of their non-specialty sandwiches than the stuff they are "famous" for.

Pats is 1,000,000 times better both as food and as a tourist experience. Obviously not the best steak in the city but not at all disgusting like Primanti's.

Also, the brunch place you're thinking of is probably the Grand Concourse, igy. It is an epic brunch spot.

Pittsburgh mass transit is an embarrassment, and especially the train, but I won't blame Sunny.

ice grillin you

while i was scouting out places for my chicago trip i came across this place called lucky sandwich shop that does the fries thing just like primanti's...i dont get it

i dont recall the name grand station but thats gotta be it.....so good

just did a vegas-joshua tree-coachella trip.

coachella was close to the most fun 4 days of my life. between the music, the girls, the drugs, the weather, the parties, etc., seriously just an insanely awesome time. easily the best music event i've been to before.
