It probably doesn't help that you have the sense of humor of a turtle.

well i dont laugh because i think im supposed to which is what happens most of the time during stand up...if people are honest about it they will admit that in the history of the world there isnt more than a handful of funny stand ups (theres really even less)...we can even take it a step further and say that there arent many truly funny people period...then you throw stand up on top of it which is basically impossible to pull off and you can understand why
i can take a phrase thats rarely heard...flip it....now its a daily word

igy gettin it done like warrick

im the board pharmacist....always one step above yous

Your miserable attitude is not very refreshing at all.

The man. The myth. The legend.

I agree with every word of this. There's nothing worse than fake laughs at a comedy show. I hate when morning shows have a comedian on and the hosts do their fake laugh.

Quote from: SD on August 12, 2011, 09:20:58 PMThere are 5 comedians whose standup I thought was worth watching, they are:

George Carlin
Richard Pryor
Eddie Murphy
Bill Hicks
Bill Cosby

Carlin's decent and I'd definitely throw him an honorable mention. Hicks I'm not familiar with but more than a few people have told me he's right up my ally so I'll have to check him out.

carlin to me would have been better as a comedy writer...like a dave barry type...he had some brilliant stuff i just dont think it came across great as stand up...a sundy column in the ny times would have been perfect for carlin

From my brain to your fingertips. You read my mind. Well stated.

I've seen Carlin live. Agreed that his material was much better than his delivery.

Might not pony up for James/Romano now. Should we see Rod Stewart instead?!?

Ha.

Right as rain.

I saw carlin live a while back and he opened the show with "you know what no one talks about? Hoyda farts." no fake laughing needed.

Rome

Carlin was an absolute genius.  Granted, as he got older he became more bitter and cynical and especially after 9/11 he really went off the deep end, but he was still 100 times better than anyone else doing stand up.

I think that's exactly how he opened the show I saw too.

Literally!

So I'm just pretty much just getting back to normal after 15 days in Japan and it was the coolest thing I've ever done. Amazing place. I highly recommend if you have the chance.

You ever been to Wuxi, China? If so, any suggestions on where to go?

PhillyPhreak54

Did you get some good radiation sushi while over there?
