• Bobby Taylor, cornerback, Seahawks: Taylor has been replaced as the Seahawks' third cornerback, and chances that he would be moved to safety ended with the Seahawks' plans to sign Bucs safety John Howell in June. Taylor has a bad knee that might hurt him on the open market.

The Kansas City Star reports free agent WR Freddie Mitchell (Eagles) will workout for the Kansas City Chiefs next week. President and general manager Carl Peterson confirmed Mitchell's visit late Thursday, June 2 and said the Chiefs will do some bargain hunting in the coming weeks, specifically at receiver, but would sign someone only if they could get him on the cheap. "I guess I'm interested in seeing him come in and work out to see why he failed," Peterson said. " Peterson said the Chiefs planned to bring in at least one other receiver.

Baltimore Ravens tight end Todd Heap has agreed to a six-year contract extension. Heap is a two-time Pro Bowl selection who was limited to 27 catches for 303 yards and three touchdowns during an injury-plagued 2004 season.  Heap is entering his fifth NFL season and was set to become an unrestricted free agent after the 2005 season. Financial terms weren't immediately available.
