So true!  I asked my California raised girlfriend to fix me some dippy eggs today and she looked at me with a weird stare and wanted to know what in the hell "dippy" was.

Ditto.  I'm guessing it is an undercooked, fried egg - a la "sunny side up" or "over easy".  "Dippy" so you can dip your toast in it?
