Not sure it belongs here as he was just a minor local celebrity, but John McAdams, the long-time PA announcer of the Palestra (and more recently the Reading Phillies) just died, as reported on Comcast SportsNet.

The drawback to marital longevity is your wife always knows when you're really interested in her and when you're just trying to bury it.

And in a strange twist, I heard a mention on the radio (national news) this morning, that John Fiedler, the voice of Piglet, also died. I haven't been able to find a link, however.

Ahh, Winnie the Poo finally lost it and is offing all of his friends, one by one.  It was only a matter of time.

I have changed my avatar in honor of this.  :(

Cnn.com has both deaths listed right next to each to each other.

Voice of Piglet

Kind of eerie they died on the same day.

Were they in bed together when they died? That would be even weirder. Especially if they were doing it.

Shelby Foote

I read Shelby Foote's three-volume narrative history of the Civil War over twenty years ago - lots of reading, but really worthwhile. Those of you who saw the Ken Burns documentary series on the Civil War will recognize him, and it was nice to see such an impressive scholar gain a degree of notoriety as a result.

John Walton. Good.

Yeaaaaaahh....see, if I'm a billionaire I'm thinking I'd let the experiemental aircraft stuff to others and instead spend that time dreaming up new risk-free ways to spend my billions.
