Even with Bard the Bowman and Tywin Lannister?!

Had no desire to see that.

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

Skeleton twins - great movie about twin suicidal siblings with equally farged up lives....well great until a single scene at the end almost ruins the entire thing

I didn't love it before that but yeah there's one of the biggest deus ex machina moments of all time in that movie.

SunMo

I watched a bunch of movies this weekend

Horrible Bosses 2 - very funny, those 3 guys have a good comedic chemistry and make a funny movie

Birdman - good performances but i wasn't feeling the overall story

Draft Day - what a complete piece of shtein.  Costner was miscast for the role and the entire "behind the scenes" look at the draft and trades was completely unrealistic.  it may be the worst sports movie ever made.

I'm the Anti-Christ. You got me in a vendetta kind of mood.

The butler - what should have been a great story very quickly became a combo after  school special/tv movie....completely unecessary cameos by total hack actors such as James marsden and minka kelly...even Mariah Carey had a part...could have been so much better...should have been so much better

4/10

This is where I leave you - incredibly unfunny dramedy...the parts meant to be funny were uncomfortably not and the parts that were supposed to be dramatic were funny mostly cause you didn't give a shtein what happens to anyone....rose byrne is super hot

2.5/10

This is where I leave you was probably the worst movie I saw in theaters in 2014.  I try to avoid dreck so it definitely wasn't the worst movie of the year but there was nothing compelling about that movie whatsoever.

Saw American Sniper.  Don't think the claims that it's jingoistic propaganda are accurate.  Presents what I'm sure is an overly saintly portrait of our individual soldiers but certainly didn't come away thinking it was a pro war piece of propaganda.

The post goes to my point about the movie though.  The heroic portrayal of Kyle should be the issue people discuss about the film.  That's worth debating - lionizing someone who clearly had way more issues than the movie chose to depict.  You can criticize the movie on those grounds for sure.

People on the left are doing themselves a disservice by broadening the point - the movie clearly was not just a pro war flick like many are saying.  Nor is it justification for why we needed to be there as the right it saying.  By misrepresenting the movie it distracts from what could be an important and productive point about whether we blindly whitewash our troops actions in almost all circumstances because of their service.  I think that's a point worthy of debate and is a debate worth having without needlessly getting into the broader question about the legality of the war (which has already been hashed out at length and in relation to things far more on point).

MDS

oh so cable news over simplified the issue and turned it into a democrat vs. republican debate

you dont say
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

Shocking, I know.  It just pisses me off when the point of discussion around the movie is tangential and people miss a chance to talk about an actual issue (appropriateness of labeling everyone who served a hero based on the act of volunteering and deploying + head count [like with Kyle]).
