i wish i could relay the conversation him and i had a few weeks ago about this when discussing interstellar.

it went something like this:

me:  are you going to see interstellar?
igy:  no i don't like sci fi
me:  oh ok, makes sense then....
*somehow we get on the subject of terminator*
igy:  oh that's like top 10 favorite movies
me:  but that's farging sci fi
igy:  no, but that's like realistic sci fi
me:  no, a cyborg who time travels to kill the mother of the leader of a revolution movement in a futuristic war is not realistic sci fi
igy:  but it's not in space
me:  so you really just hate movies about space
igy:  yeah i guess so
*later the topic of star wars comes up*
igy:  i loved the original star wars trilogy
me:  ...........

I'm the Anti-Christ. You got me in a vendetta kind of mood.

shouldn't have been more than one....and you are questioning the 4th?

T2 was infinitely superior in every way to the original.  It's top-3 in the genre, IGY.

lol....thats a joke...but you are a nerd movie guy which I cool but the idea behind the first one is so amazingly original....the second one was just a cheesy lets see how many cutting edge cool special effects we can do....and good god is eddie farging furlong a catastrophe

also no michael beihn in the 2nd.....that's an automatic loss for t2 even if it was a good movie which it isnt

Yeah T2 had some amazing effects for the time period but it was definitely NOT just a jerk off session to special effects without a good story.

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

I liked T2 but I agree with this. First one was more story based than special effects. I somehow know what igy is talking about and agree when he says it's more realistic. Second one was hollywooded up with special effects and a guns n roses soundtrack. T2 is a popcorn summer flick.

it basically was long chase scene with awesome special effects and for the time they truly were next level...if thats your thing then it would be better than the first one....its not my thing

The Terminator was sci-fi horror, T2 was a pure popcorn movie. It was a really good popcorn movie, though.

I don't know how you can argue that the Terminator movies aren't sci-fi. Time travel and cyborgs don't do much for your argument but I'd be interested in hearing your reasons why you would think this.

ice grillin you

a couple of the flash forward scenes qualify for sci fi...but they take up less than 1% of the movie

back to the future has time travel but isn't sci fi....lots of movies contain time travel or portals that aren't sci fi....they fall under the fantasy category to me
