Anyone seen a good movie lately?

Watching Gravity for the story or who's in it is exactly like watching fireworks for the story or because you know the pyrotechnician.

The man. The myth. The legend.

Rome

I watched a doc on Thirty Seconds From Mars called Artifact on Palladia tonite.  I wasn't a fan of the band beforehand (although I've heard their music and it's not bad) but I have to say I enjoyed the story.  They were fighting a corporate colossus that was intent on grinding them into dust and ended up beating them at their own game.

SD

The Place Beyond the Pines - Bradley Cooper, Ryan Gosling, Eva Mendes...decent movie.

Bad Words - Awful. You can see what they're trying to do and it doesn't work on any level. Bateman just isn't that type of character. They try to do a Bad Santa relationship with him and the Indian kid and it just fails miserably.

I liked place beyond the pines but couldn't tell you why

Rome

Um Eva Mendes maybe cause that's all I got for that horrible POS movie.

I want to see boyhood.  So many people were talking about snowpiercer that I decided to see it.   Interesting visuals / political satire.  Won't comment on the ending obviously but I think there were better ways they could have gone than what they elected.

yeah both are getting thru the roof reviews....especially boyhood....im not sure I can ever remember a film that's gotten better write ups

boyhood reviews/buzz are insane

i dont know why they are releasing it now, though. seems like an oscar bait movie. by the time december rolls around it will be good and buried. remember the movie wallace from the wire was in last year? fruitvale station? great reviews...great buzz...DOA come oscar time because it might as well have been made in 2001
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

boyhood would never win an oscar so its irrelevant when its released

the hurt locker and crash have won best pictures in the last decade

with the right buzz and right campaign anything can happen

I frequent rottentomatoes and metacritic a decent amount and it's average rating (9.4!) is the highest I have ever seen.

did you seriously just compare crash to boyhood

crash is pretty much the golden child of the academy

hurt locker also cant be remotely compared to boyhood

how did tree of life do at the oscars
