I finally saw, and really liked, Inception.

Can we have another 10 page back and forth about Inception fanboys and the relative merits of the movie?

I enjoyed it also.

Would you rather put it in Ellen Page's mouth, or ass? I say mouth.

Eh. Ass. But really, neither. She's a tiny little boygirl who does nothing for me.

Still. Ass.

I disagree. Also, I think that her entire character didn't exist in reality.

Never Let Me Go.

Really good.  The backplot is horrifying, while the front story is really moving.

I watched the North Shore on HBO this morning. It's your basic 80's flick in the mold of a Rad or Thrashin. The Hawaiian chick (Nia Peeples) is bangin.

Oh dude, Nia Peeples is still hot.  She aged very well.  I give you credit for sitting through North Shore. Just an awful movie.  Rome knows how I feel about it.  Karate Kid of surfing. Nia Peeples helps ease the pain. Praying Will Smith's son will do the remake.

I told Rome to check out The 808 for a good take on surfing.  It was a reality show on Fuel TV in 2007.  Ordered it on iTunes.  Some good insights into the whole scene on the North Shore.  Good entertainment.

The best surf movie/documentary I've ever seen is Riding Giants.  It's on HBO and all the movie channels.  Highly
recommend it.

Black Snake Moan wasn't a bad movie at all. Christina Ricci has a nice rack

Went & saw The Adjustment Bureau today with the family.  It was actually quite good.  Damon is his usual likable self and the supporting cast was good as well.  The movie was a bit convoluted and the ending was predictable, but overall it was enjoyable fluff.    I'll go 3.5 out of 5 with this one.

Incidentally, Emily Blunt is hot as hell in it, though.  Who knew?

Rome

@ Don... Riding Giants is excellent.  The wave that Laird Hamilton rode at Teahupoo might be the most incredible thing I've ever seen.  The difficulty involved in riding that is just unimaginable.

King's Speech had some of the best character development and acting of any movie I've seen. Brilliant from start to finish.

General_Failure

I understand they had to tone down a lot of the profanity in that for the US release. How'd it rate on the fargometer?

He rode it with his back to the wave.  Think about the strength required just to hold a tuck there with thousands of pounds of force trying to rip you upward.

Just unreal.

Talk about mother nature at work.  Look at the size of that lip!  That would snap a human in half.  Miracle more bodies aren't broken at Teahupoo.

What I love about this movie is the interviews and old footage of the pioneers of big wave riding.  Greg Noll is a crackup.  They talk a lot about George Downing but never interviewed him.  Guy is as funny as Noll.  Seabiscuit's brother and I ran into him one afternoon after lunch at a local Safeway parking lot.  We were complaining to him about what a zesty summer it was for waves.  He said "Don't worry.  Mother Nature's a little retarded this year.  She'll get it straight."

Speaking of mather nature, check this shtein out that's due in tomorrow on the North Shore:

Tue '03/15'

I didn't understand anything those dudes said and I really wanted to punch the effusive dude in the face.  It's a big wave and all, but whatever.  Every surfing video is big waves.
