ATTENTION:

Mega Python vs Gatoroid is on SyFy tonight, starring Tiffany and Debbie Gibson.

That can't possibly be the ACTUAL name of that movie, can it?  Even on SyFy?

Just watched The Dilemma. Big, huge MEH. Was looking for a little more comedy but at times it was trying to be serious and then missed on a lot of what were supposed to be funny parts.  Wasn't terrible but I should have opted to wait an hour to see True Grit.

Also, there was a preview for another Big Mama movie and everyone in the theater was laughing. Problem is that none of it was funny. I hope they all died in fiery car crashes on the way home.

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

The Fighter. Loved it. I have a whole new respect for Amy Adams. And I've never wanted a woman to get her throat slit more than the mom in this movie.  Also, Micky Ward's entrance music was Whitesnake.

I'd watch it again.

I saw the Green Zone last night. I thought it was really good. Matt Damon is one of the best in the biz in my opinion.

That movie was way better than I expected.

I watched the first half of The Social Network last night. It was well directed and well acted but I don't see what all of the hoopla is about. It seems to just be a character study of a collection of brilliant people and their difficulties in interacting with each other/the world. That simplistic description could be applied to the lives of the majority of my closest friends.

I went to a high school full of geniuses. Not like, "Oh I get As and Bs on my report card" people (although that was the category I fell in to). I'm talking about kids who took quantum physics as 14 year old freshman and had to to take their math classes on local college campuses because the school, which was designed to accommodate for geniuses, couldn't accommodate for their level of genius. My company writes incredibly complex investment software and has a development army of several dozen people. Two of my closest friends write software by themselves identical to my company's software for hedge funds on proprietary platforms. Another worked for Microsoft and Google and recently started his own company because he wasn't being challenged. Another was named top student at Brandeis Business school and now works for MIT modling complex systems to predict and prepare for future socio-political and socio-economic events. And these are just my close friends that I'm rattling off. There were six kids in my class alone who scored a 1600 on their SAT.

The point to all of this is that I think people love The Social Network because Mark Zuckerberg is so fascinating to them. But he isn't that fascinating to me. He reminds me of the kinds I went to high school with. I was surrounded by Mark Zuckerbergs. The difference is that he got lucky enough to parlay his brilliance into a social phenomenon that made him disgustingly wealthy. I guess there's something interesting about that, and I guess that this might be premature and that the second half of the movie may peak my interest a little more, but so far it just isn't anything all that amazing to me. Good movie, but I'm not in the oh-my-god-The-Social-Network crowd so far.

Finished it. It was good in the ways I said it was good. Snappy dialog, well acted, well directed. I still don't get the outpouring of love for this movie. I guess if you really care about how a website got started or really find Zuckerberg and other smarties to be uniquely interesting, than this is the movie for you. If you're like me and could not possibly give less of a shtein about the story of Facebook and already know what it's like to be surrounded by nerds (and to be one yourself) I don't see what this movie does to blow anyone away.

Good. Not great or anything approximating great.

Because people are generally idiotic sheep..."I'm on facebook! I love facebook! I must love facebook movie!"

Toy Story 3 - Awesome

Brothers - farged up flick, but very true to our times.

Valhalla Rising - One of the strangest flicks I have ever watched. I didn't make it through to the end due to next to no dialog and just being extremely strange. Very graphic and gory fight scenes at times. Wouldn't really recommend to the average movie watcher.

iron man 2 - typical super hero movie schlock but watchable...i heard that it was way worse than the first one but i honestly didnt see a huge difference...this one has less story and tried to basically be transformers part III...and the suspension of disbelief was off the charts...like how he built that entire new lab or whatever it was in like 24 hours...scarlott johannson is hot...duh

buried was fantastic. great thriller. had me borderline uncomfortable with claustrophobia at times, which im guessing that was part of the point. there were some convenient liberties taken with the situation, but other than that this was one of the better moves of the year.

not sure why middling indie garbage like the kids are all right and ben assfleck fun bank robber movies are getting more play than this.

8/10
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

You didn't like the Iron Man films.   I thought they were both very good.  I thought the first one was better, but the second was a solid sequel.  It's a comic book movie, so obviously there is going to be unbelievable moments.  Nolan (Batman) is the only director that is trying to infuse more realism into his comic book triology and make the villians less over the top.

I'm excited for the summer with Captain America and Thor coming out, with both getting good press so far.

IMO iron man 1 was definitely better. just didnt like the story that much but johansson did help me get by that small detail.
