I watched Chloe last night. Lots of naked Amanda Seyfried and lots of naked Julianne Moore. Sort of an attempt at exploring middle aged relationships and paranoia and sexuality. It was ok. It made a little too much effort to be adult, which sounds like a silly thing to say, but the result was that it wasn't as sexy as it could have been and it wasn't as adult as it could have been which made it less enjoyable on both counts. They totally rushed the end too, which had the potential to be pretty suspenseful.

Whatever. It was ok. Hot naked actresses and decent acting/direction. Just an incomplete movie watching experience.

Is the new-ish Robin Hood worth renting?

And, just to top it all off, Rotten Tomatoes and MRQE give The Road roughly the same rating, making IGY's point completely moot.

So one review aggregation site is superior to another, using the same sources? Brilliant!

The Road-
MRQE - 71% on 179 reviews
RT - 75% on 193 reviews

My first time using MRQE. Have to admit the layout is a bit cleaner than RT, but the content is about the same IMHO.

Three things can happen when you throw the ball, and two of them are bad.

what kind of lazy motherfarger do you have to be to rely on sites like rotten tomatoes to influence your movie-going decisions?

if i see something and it looks interesting i go see it.  i'm usually not disappointed although sometimes i am (the american for instance).

of course there are time when reviewers absolutely kill a movie and i end up loving it (hot tub time machine).

it's like anything else.  make up your own mind and stop relying on professional hacks who weren't talented enough as writers to actually participate in the creative process.

I use RT when there's a movie I'm on the fence with and it ends up getting strong or weak reviews.  Most of the movies I already know I'm going to see or avoid, but there are times when I'm on the fence and RT will push me one way or the other.

Rome

if i'm on the fence about something i wait until it comes out on blu-ray.  i'd rather spend a buck to rent it than 40 bucks to sit in a theater with the family hating every minute of it.

MDS

see your first problem there is you have a family

otherwise it would just cost 10 bucks
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

For the most part, I agree.  I don't put much stock in movie reviews unless they come from people I know who have similar tastes as I do.  The only time I might pay attention to online reviews is for movies that have me on the fence.  And even then, it's really just to help find the appropriate position in my netflix queue.

Speaking of netflix queue, I've got about 75movies in the queue right now (not including instant view) and I'm 100% positive that the bottom 50 will probably never make their way to the top of the list.  I'm basically interested in these movies just enough to have them in my queue so that should I get to them one day I'll actually watch, but will probably always find movies that interest me more that I'll move above them.
