Birth: Well acted but slow as shtein. Slow slow slow. And boring. 5/10 for adult slowness and slight boredom.

QuoteForster To Tackle Zombie Film

14 November 2008 11:05 AM, PST

Bond director Marc Forster is eyeing up his next mission - he is to film a big screen adaptation of Max Brooks' best-selling novel World War Z.

The filmmaker pointedly turned down the chance to make a follow-up to Quantum of Solace because he wanted to concentrate on different movie genres.

And he faces a huge change in direction with World War Z - it tells the grisly tale of zombies trying to take over the world.

He will be in the director's chair while Brad Pitt takes over production duties for the film.

Forster says, "The genre always fascinated me, and when they pitched it to me, it reminded me of the paranoid conspiracy films of the '70s like All The President's Men."

Tie it in to what? A love story?

No.

The beauty of the book was that each story was it's own entity from all different parts of the world.

The movie will probably be a jumbled mess once hollywood gets done with it.

If it's not a straight documentary...almost educational style, like old WWII news reals...it'll be a waste.

Hey...it was an awesome book. I think i've read it 3 times over. But i have no hopes in the movie making through hollywood without trying to squeeze a casey affleck or katherine heigle love angle to it.

The WWII news reel style would work beautifully, I think.

That was the point of my post...I hope they stay true to the book because there was a ton of diff. stories all relating to the outcome of the over all story. I hope they don't skip out on any because they were all good.

Tropic Thunder:

Some parts were funny in the beginning and the end of the movie, but the entire middle of the movie was pretty dull. Robert Downey Jr's whole being black act got old pretty fast, and I actually found a lot of the characters irritating. Some of the situations were funny though. Overall worth the watch, but I've seen better comedies.

C+/10
Calling it right on the $ since day one.
Just pointing laughing, and living it up while watching the Miami Heat stink it up.

I'm glad you were bored by it, because I enjoyed it very much. There were parts where I even laughed, which was a nice change from the usual comedies. I can't stand Ben Stiller, but I think he played his part very well.

Me too.  I thought it was funny as hell.  I saw it in the theater and just the other day, I caught myself whistling... "I love that Hoyda, Hell Yeah!"

The celebrity "cameos" were well done I thought too.

Ben Stiller has turned out a couple of descent comedies I guess. Something About Mary and Dodge Ball were pretty OK.

He always plays the same character though.

Just watched it.  And it was even stupider than I expected, but in a great way.  Finally, a movie that understands exactly what it is (and isn't) and plays to its strengths.  Lots of nudity, ridiculous over-the-top humor (wait'll you see the golf balls).  The political stuff was a bit much, but overall a good way to waste and hour and a half.
Anyone but Reid.
