perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

I didn't hear complaints about his voice after Batman Begins, but everyone hates it all of a sudden. He used the same voice in both movies.

I'm ashamed to say I agree with you.  His exit of the hospital was awesome.
Anyone but Reid.

I still haven't seen the Dark Knight, in some ways I think that makes me cooler than all of you.

But in another, more accurate, way you know that it just makes you jealous of us.
Is rjs gonna have to choke a bitch?

The hospital exit was easily the best scene in the movie. I audibly laughed.

The man. The myth. The legend.

I think I'm going to see it at 11 tomorrow.

THe Dark Knight was awesome.
It actually kinda pisses me off now that Heath Ledger died.
There was some rumor somewhere on the interwebs, I forget where, that Daniel Day Lewis has expressed interest in taking over the Joker role...hm.

Anyway, I agree with pretty much everything that has been said here. The stupid batman voice was annoying, the Two-Face story was rushed, Ledger was excellent, etc blah blah.

I loved how farging psychotic the Joker was.
Also, I laughed hard at the hospital scene when he was walking out. Same with the "pencil trick".

He'd be setting himself up for complete failure... and so would Nolan.  Ledger's Joker is going to cast a looooooong shadow over that role for a long time.  Lewis or anyone else for that matter would be compared to Ledger's Joker in EVERY aspect and then ridiculed because he didn't do the Joker the way Ledger did it.

They'd be much better off just going with another villian in the movie.

I haven't seen the movie yet, so I'm not really qualified to rate Ledger's performance, but if anyone could take over the role and improve upon Ledger's performance, Daniel Day-Lewis could.  He's that good of an actor.

Also - check out the IMDB page for "The Road".  http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0898367/

There's a character listed as "Baby Eater".   :-D

Diomedes

well, there's a few of 'em in the book, so there ought to be at least one in the movie...and it's one of the scenes the book with the most overtly shocking images, if not the best of course

I would have to agree and I am in the same boat as you as far as not seeing the movie.  I can't see too many things he wouldn't be able to pull off as an actor.

To make a comparison to a vastly inferior movie, the replacement for Dumbledore couldn't pull that off.  And that's easy.

The nuanced role Ledger played would be hard to reach, much less exceed.  And who ever they found would not look the same, and that would ruin it.  Hard to imagine they'd include the Joker in future installments, and that's a shame.

My guess is they'll drop the Joker all together and try and work The Riddler in there somehow.
As dark as the movies have been, they COULD go with The Mad Hatter...

I saw a new list of best all-time movie villains today that fits nicely into this conversation.

Quote1: Lord Voldemort, Harry Potter - Ralph Fiennes

2: Darth Vader, Star Wars -James Earl Jones, Hayden Christensen

3. Wicked Witch Of The West, The Wizard Of Oz - Margaret Hamilton

4. Hannibal Lecter, Silence Of The Lambs - Anthony Hopkins

5. Joker, The Dark Knight - Heath Ledger

In Bruges:

Highly recommend it. Excellent movie. Dark comedy/drama movie. I can't ever remember enjoying Colin Farrell in a role as much as I did in this. Brendan Gleeson and Ralph Fiennes were really good too. It was funny and the story developed well.

Other than The Dark Knight it was one of the best movies I've seen in a while.

A-/10
