vigilante with guns...

but why it wasn't terrible is this:  it was rated R so it was decently violent.  and the way the punisher gets started is his entire family gets killed and they do a pretty good job with that scene at the beginning.

The ice cream torture scene and the Russian in the Where's Waldo shirt helped crap up that movie.

Maybe I'll check it out, you've never steered me wrong before (that I can remember)

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

10,000 BC - 1.5/5 - The g/f and I had 2 hours to kill before a dinner party and there's nothing else out so we checked this out. I could go into a top 100 list of why its so bad but its not even worth the effort.

ha, from the very first preview i couldn't even fathom how that got made

Disturbia - Not too shabby, I guess. One of those movies that held my attention but wasn't great. A good time killer movie and plus the chick in there, Carrie Ann Moss I think, was pretty fargin fine. = 5/10

Gone Baby Gone - Ben Affleck sucks balls as an actor, but he seems to be a pretty damn good director based on this film. I enjoyed this a lot and his brother Casey is a good actor. Ed Harris and Morgan Freeman are also in the movie. Very good plot and several twists that I didn't see coming. = 9/10

Father Demon

I don't know if this has been mentioned on this site or not...  but if you want to see new release movies from the comfort of your office chair for free.....

Just looking back over the last couple of pages--

Regarding the Hulk:  I'm surprised they're remaking the Hulk so soon after the last one, but this new one looks miles better.  That said, the last one was not good...but it wasn't bad enough that it makes me as angry as it does others.  It was a typical underwhelming movie.

The Punisher:  That was one of those movies I had on in the background while I did other things, and for that it really wasn't bad.  I wouldn't have wanted to pay for it, but it was better than the 80's version.

Along the same lines, I had on Ghost Rider the other day in the background.  I wasn't expecting much, but wow...what a steaming pile of crap.  Other than some of the special effects, it was just absolutely brutal.  Terrible screenplay, and even worse acting.  It was just simpleminded and boring-- you'd swear a 13-year-old wrote it.  And Nicholas Cage is just absolutely horrendous in it...the fact that he even got within sniffing distance of playing Superman is nauseating.

Manhunter (1986):
The original movie adapted from the Silence of the Lambs book.
Starring a whole bunch of reconizable 80's dudes, and Brian Cox as Dr. Lector.
This movie is totally different than Silence, and it's not bad. Dr. Lector is a pretty minor character, no break-out or anything like that and a lot more attention is focused on the investigative process.
The serial killer is also totally different.
It is quite interesting and a good move, although Brian Cox is incredible, but is in the movie for a total of like 6 minutes.
The worst actor in it is the main guy, that 80's douche William Petersen, who ended up doing soft-porn.
Definitely worth checking out, especially if you like CSI.
7/10.

ice grillin you

manhunter is solid but its aged terribly bad...it has a tv movie of the week feel to it
i can take a phrase thats rarely heard...flip it....now its a daily word

igy gettin it done like warrick

Manhunter was based on the book Red Dragon, not Silence of the Lambs.

Manhunter has aged terribly, to say the least. The remake isn't all that bad though (the actual Red Dragon movie) and is one of the few cases where a remake was actually warranted.
