I thought they were making another Hudson Hawk there for a minute

the proposition - started out slowly but really gained momentum thru the middle and end and was an all around very good movie...excellent performances by all...one question tho for anyone who saw it...what happened to the girl that was living out in the outback with the outlaws...the one that patched up guy pierces wound...she literally just disappeared with no explanation

Work farging sucks, guys.  Seriously.

Emergency appraisals are all the rage?

I had a couple of things to do at the office and my wife got a case in at her office that she had to address that afternoon.

It happens.

so i was supposed to get a sopranos disc in the mail, and when we took it out it was some movie called Grandma's Boy that I've never heard of.  it looked horrible but i figured what the farg and we got really baked and decided to watch it.  i haven't laughed so much at a movie in a long time.  it's basically all the adam sandler movie guys minus adam sandler getting stoned and telling fart and boob jokes.  totally stupid movie and it gets a little corny in the end, like all his movies, but for the first hour/hour and a half i laughed a lot.  surprisingly hilarious.  it easily could have been the weed though.  but if you're in the mood for a stupid happy gilmore-like movie it's worth a watch.  i really enjoyed it.

Babel.

It was a not-as-good version of Traffic/Syriana. 3 seemingly unrelated stories all tied together at the end. Same kind of gritty camera work and intense acting. Only Traffic and Syriana had clearly defined messages, whereas Babel just seemed to be saying that shtein sucks all over (with some not-so-thinly-veiled pot shots at the US' foreign policy agenda added for flavor).

It wasn't bad, but it wasn't Best Picture nomination worthy at all. 3/5

Sherry  Baby - 7/10     painful, but good story.   Great acting by Maggie and IGYs favorite nude scenes.

Wife and I watched "The Holiday" last night.  Standard *romantic comedy* whitebread fare.  Wife really seemed to like it, and I didn't have a problem getting drunk during it.  Also, no dude asses in the movie, which automatically brings it above some other crappy chick flicks.

1.5/5 + .5 for no male nudity = 2.

I thought 300 was the epitome of 'meh'.  There were a lot of little things that bothered me with how the action scenes were handled and the general lack of respect the movie had in regards to the importance of the Battle of Thermapolye.  I thought it had its moments, and I only went into the movie expecting a 'cool war movie' with sweet battle scenes but still came away disappointed.  There are a lot of people, as shown here already, who will like 300, and I can understand why, but I think it was a confused movie that wasn't as fun as it should have been.   :cfhead :cfhead

I can tell I drank myself stupid yesterday because I giggled several times during School For Scoundrels. It was terrible.

"Casino Royale"

A hell of a lot of fun.  Excellent decision to take Bond back to his 'early days'.  We could sit and poke holes at the plot, but why?  It's one of the more entertaining overall movies I've seen of late.  4/5.

"Hollywoodland"

Good acting, good story.  The biggest surprise is that Affleck actually did very well.  Obviously, the truth has been embellished a bit, but that's why it's a movie.  Slow in parts, but not too long at almost exactly 2 hours.  It's worth a watch for sure.  3.5/5.

Zanshin

Saw V for Vendetta last night.  I enjoyed it quite a bit, but it was nothing like I was expecting.  As much as I liked it, I think I'd have liked it more if I hadn't heard all the hype about it.

300 was the #1 movie again. Igy rules.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

Finally got around to watching the Illusionist. Really good movie that loses one eagle head for Edward Norton's attempt at an accent. 3/5

The man. The myth. The legend.

Casino Royale - can't say nothing that hasn't already been said. Not really a Bond fan but it was excellent, like that they made him a badass. 4/5
