Susquehanna Birder

I'm disppointed with it. It goes from interesting to implausible to impossible.

Bowie was cool, though.

That's kind of the point.  *SPOILER BELOW*

The point is that they make it seem like there's something special or supernatural about what Bale's character is doing, and Jackman's character is obsessed with finding it out.  Then, he ends up giving up any shred of morality to get his own supernatural magic trick, and it turns out Bale had simply and literally taken the secret of his illusion to the grave.  It's a fantasy and not supposed to be "plausible" or "possible"... it's just a really great work of fiction.

Susquehanna Birder

I understand. Still, to me, good fiction doesn't ask me to suspend disbelief quite like as that did. Especially when there is a little bit of historical framing included. Anyway...I don't want to give away anything, so I'll stop now.

PoopyfaceMcGee

Fair enough.  Let's just make it clear that this is a work of implausible fiction to those who don't want to see that.

Trainspotting- Reaffirms my position that all people from Scotland suck  :cfhead :cfhead 1/2

I hate you. I love this movie.

It wasn't bad. Just not imdb top 250 material. Perhaps because I dislike Scots, Irishmen, the Welsh, etc.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

Hatred of the Scots should INCREASE your appreciation of the movie. But you're clearly an idiot, so I won't bother worrying about it.
Is rjs gonna have to choke a bitch?

Let them eat bootstraps.

Sorcerer- 7/10  Roy Scheider bringing the Nitro home.  boom.

MDS

I'm aware. But that fact that I watched a bunch of dirty Scots for 90 minutes pissed me off and caused me dislike the movie a bit. Hence, the 2.5 rating.

i concur with everyone on the prestige...just a great movie from the story to the acting all the way down to the costumes and sets...so much better than the illusionist its not even funny...the thing even close to negative i could say is that because of the kind of movie it is it has zero repeat value

the thing i love about nolan is he doesnt release movies every two years...hes meticulous takes his time and does it right...
