lord of the rings books were the shtein, the movies were so damn close, but still impossible to cover every little detail tolkien describes.  i usually find the majority of people who don't like them have a short attention span and or have little or no imagination.  its fantasy for christ sakes.  if u read the books, you will totally be in awe with the movies.   thats all the is to it.

Meh... LOTR was cool.  I didn't read any of the books or anything... and when I watched them, I enjoyed them, but I really don't remember shtein about any of them.  The thing that sticks out off the top of my head is when Elijah Wood got stabbed and webbed up by that big ass spider.  Other than that... kinda sketchy.

This is probably no shocker to any of you but I loved the books and thought the movies were really well done. IMO it takes an open mind to really enjoy them.

Evil Dead trilogy > LOTR trilogy

u can't really appreciate the movie at it's finest unless u spent hours/years reading the books.  but then again people really liked the movie without reading it.  for me, i grew up reading the books, and to see it on screen, that well done was well, BONERIFIC if I must.

Evil Dead trilogy > LOTR trilogy

This goes without saying because: Evil Dead trilogy > all

Aside from the fact that mussa spelled 'you' as 'u,' I could have written this post.

I have to admit that I found the first LOTR movie to be darn near unwatchable.  Did bother with the other two.

However, being that's exactly what IGY said, I feel suddenly compelled to give the movies another chance.

Agree 100%.  I fell asleep, and I was watching it in the early evening.

It's a good story that was poorly written but edited into a good series of movies.

I watched 61* again last night on HBO.

I love that movie. Partly because I like Barry Pepper as an actor. And the guy who played Mickey Mantle (Thomas Jane, he's played in a lot of junk) was fantastic in that role. Billy Crystal directed it.

If you like baseball and haven't seen that movie I highly recommend it.
