Look at the story here.  Almost every male in the film is dismissed, incompetent, a liar or counter-manded by women. Diversity is smashed down your throat at every turn.  It's not even remotely subtle.  They should have titled the movie, Star Wars: White Males Suck.   That's Kennedy's influence. 

Look, I get it.  2017 is a reckoning for whites males and we deserve the beatdowns we're receiving.  But they really didn't need to be so heavy handed about it in this movie.

You hit the nail on the head. We get it, diversity. They ram it down your throat. And I agree on Kennedy, her resume is impressive but that doesn't mean show knows dick about making a Star Wars movie. It's an established franchise with a built in guideline, it doesn't need to be reinvented. They'd of been better off going with someone who understands SW rather than a big budget producer who tinkers with shtein because she wants to make it like other lame big budget films. The twists in the movie are so forced and modern day big budget stupid...like the Admiral, I have this grand plan to save everyone but I'm not going to tell anyone because why should they know they're better off being scared and it's only their lives on the line. Oh and it might just happen to lead to a mutiny.

What's hilarious about the blatant attempt to turn this into some sort of "girl power" movie is that Leia was one of the first (if not the first) truly heroic, powerful female characters in movies.  She wasn't slowly developed into an ass kicker or anything, she was introduced that way and grew from there. SW didn't really need that element added to it.

And I saw Darkest Hour this afternoon.  Oldman puts on the sort of performance they talk about in classes at the Actor's Studio.  Amazing.  Lily James was great too.  The whole cast was.
