Saw Star Wars.  Entertaining; wasn't wowed unfortunately.

Agree with this. I won't get into too much detail because a lot of people haven't seen it, but I had a lot of issues with the movie. I see the blend they went for and all of that, but it had a different feel to it. The prequels felt more Star Wars to me than this film did. Overall it was good but you're right the wow factor was missing.

My issues with the film:

Unoriginal story. It's basically episode 1 with a few twists and a new villain.
The new death planet or whatever was just lame. The way they destroyed it was even lamer. 
Hated the sound effects. I like the sound of the traditional lasers.
Didn't like the new stormtroopers. They were too all over the place. The shoot outs were ridiculous and every time a storm trooper was shot he'd fly 40 feet through the air.
Kylo Rhen. What a horrible Sith/Dark Jedi whatever you want to call him. He reminds me of some emo dude. The whole slashing his lightsaber at consoles when he was angry was so lame.
It's great they decided to reinvent force powers. Now they can pull exact data out of peoples minds. When did that start to happen? They can also stop Lasers apparently too.
Didn't read any spoilers but saw the death scene coming a mile away. Total non shocker.
How does Han Solo go from smuggler, to saving the galaxy, back to smuggling? Really stupid to have him back in that role.

My biggest pet peeve is with the ending lightsaber battle. So Kylo Rhen is on a Anakin level, Rey just heard of the force about an hour ago. But she figures enough out to beat him in a saber duel? When he went for the saber and she got it instead it was such a non SW woohoo moment it made me sick. And why was the planet having a sudden earthquake? It's not like they destroyed the planet yet.

Overall I just felt ehh with the movie. Didn't feel like a Star Wars film to me. I'll probably see it again just to get a better feel on it.

I honestly can't say i disagree with a lot of that...but the original ones had huge plot holes as well, i just accept them for what they are. 

i actually liked that Kylo Rhen's force abilites were different from others.  I don't think that's a huge stretch.  the emperor could shoot lightening, obi-wan could make people do things they didn't want to, darth could choke someone out, luke could do....whatever he did

there are other things i could talk about but it's not really fair because i don't want to ruin it.

I loved it.  Seeing it again on Thursday in IMAX. 

The girl who played Ray reminded me of the Agent Carter chick.  Quite hot.

Interstellar - really long but it didn't drag a whole lot.  it's your typical Nolan movie which is fantastic visuals, broadstroking of some key plot points, and supernaturalish stuff.  The cast was ridiculously good.  It doesn't have a lot of rewatch value because it's so long but definitely worth the watch at least once.

Just watched it via Amazon. Probably could have been a little shorter, but I understand the need to try and portray some of the confusing metaphysical stuff.

On the opposite end of the spectrum, I also watched "Get Hard" (the Will Ferrell and Kevin Hart vehicle). Pretty damned terrible. It was like an awkward SNL sketch running waaaaay too long.

Star Wars review:  Decent space-adventure flick.  Not the mind-blowing, life-altering experience some want to make it out to be.

It's a good movie.  It's worth seeing.  It's more like the first two than the prequels.  I just think it borrowed way too much from the original to be great.
