Birdemic:  Shock and Terror.

The awfulness defies description.  I've seen better production values from PRI.  Needs to be seen to be believed.

Joel Mchale or however you spell his name was showing parts of that movie on The Soup last week.....seriously, if anybody loves to watch terrible terrible movies with no redeeming qualities at all other than laughing at how bad it is...see that movie.

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

The Hurt Locker - decent movie with some intense scenes but I don't know why it won Best Picture

Just saw The Hurt Locker the other night for the first time. Agree with you 100%'  OK but definitely not Oscar material.
"Well where does Jack Lord live, or Don Ho?  That's got to be a nice neighborhood"  Jack Singer(Nicholas Cage) in Honeymoon in Vegas.

It was still way better than Avatar.  Not that that's saying much.

Besides, what does winning an Oscar mean anyway?  It's the same bunch of syncophants patting each other on the shoulder, job well done!
It's not a benchmark for what you should or shouldn't see, or like.

watched Art of the Steal based on igy's recommendation here.

great documentary and it's outrageous all the shtein that went on for Philadelphia to steal The Barnes Foundation's artwork
I'm the Anti-Christ. You got me in a vendetta kind of mood.

it certainly a benchmark for what you should see i think...oscar best picture nominees are almost always in with the best movies of the year...they just may not always be in the top 5....yes you do have some exceptions like an avatar and then theres personal likes and dislikes an individual may have with a certain movie but overall the oscars are a good litmus test for the movies of any particular year

First movie I ever got from Netflix.  It was great in it's awfulness.

Well hell, how can you wrong with the filmmaking team that brought you Harry Knuckles and won the "Spirit of Slamdance" prize with Harry Knuckles and the Treasure of the Aztec Mummy?

Saw Rango. Amazing computer animation, but really, really weird. If you get high, go and see it way. I can only imagine the drugs that went into making the movie. It wasn't bad...but it was offbeat, to say the least. And they squeezed every ounce of PG out of the movie, too. My kid liked it a lot, though. Not sure why, because it didn't seem all that much like a kid's movie to me.

I also saw Grown Ups. Awful...and not in a funny awful sort of way...just boring and pointless.
