Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

why do people still actually buy dvd's?  i mean, i get it if it's a movie that you'd realistically watch again and again, but with services like netflix or blockbuster online, why spend the $20 on a dvd from the store?

for $9 a month i can rent 1 netflix movie at a time along with unlimited instant views.  there's a 3 day turn around for the movies i get in the mail.  so that's basically 10 movies per month.

for another 20 or 30 bucks you can buy some software that will allow you to rip the dvd to your computer.  and for $10 you can buy an s-video cable and plug your laptop/desktop into your television and watch your movies.

i'm slowly in the process of copying all of my dvd's to my computer and then using some video conversion software to make it compatible with my x-box so i can stream it direct to the tv.  once i get all the dvd's put on my computer, they're all going to the yard sale.

not only is it way cheaper to get movies this way, but it's also going to save me a ton of space in my living room since i don't have to keep buying bigger and bigger shelves to hold my collection.

we already had this conversation re: cd's...its the same thing...some people like to have the real packaging and artwork....especially when you already have a nice collection going you dont all of a sudden wanna start mixing in burnt copies of movies on blank dvd's

and as i said with cd's, i get it if you have a rare edition of an album (which i believe you have many of) or a box set or something and you want to hang on to it.  and i'll say the same thing for dvd's.  if it's a rare or collector's edition, then i get it.  otherwise, why waste the space?

and don't say album art because the "album art" on a dvd cover isn't even art.  it's a small movie theater poster.  and dvd's don't come with the inside cover like cd's do either.  at least with a cd you often get a mini book on the inside cover with random pics of the artist or song lyrics or whatever.  all that comes on the inside cover of a dvd is a coupon to universal studios and a few advertisements.

my being in the military probably has something to do with my opinion on the subject since it's much easier for me to move 1 computer full of music and movies than it is to move 1000+ cds and dvds.  not to mention that it's way easier for me to find a cd in my digital library than it ever was when i had cd's on the shelf or in a cd book.  but, i guess that's just me being all logical and shtein.

But it's like he said...some people like having something they can hold in their hands physically.

When it comes to CD's, I definitely buy them almost exclusively for the lyrics booklet anymore. Then, if I really love the band, I'll turn around and buy the CD again on the interwebz for the iTunes exclusive bonus tracks. The music industry has successfully raped and pillaged me.

I just made the mistake of watching Skinwalkers. Holy shtein what an awful werewolf movie. Rhona Mitra is hot as shtein but remained fully clothed and had way too many lines. Worst actress ever.
Is rjs gonna have to choke a bitch?

I'm gonna give Daybreakers a chance at some point here.

As I understand it Venom is an alien parasite that lives inside Peter Parker. He gives Spiderman incredible strength, but makes him a bit nutty. This is when Spiderman wore a black suit, the suit was actually Venom. Spiderman finally decides to rid himself of Venom, but Venom's only vulnerable to sound. Somebody else can explain this a lot better than I can, I'm sure.

Nah man.  Venom is the name Eddie Brock gives himself after he takes the "alein symbiote"(which takes him over) after Spidy got rid of it because it was making him crazy and violent too.  They would have to have Spidy find it first use it then get rid of it.  Then have Eddie Brock find it and get hooked.

so as it turns out, ngm was spot on with this as this is exactly what happened in the film.  and it wouldn't have been that bad of a movie had it not been for the awful 15-20 minute segment where peter parker starts looking like some half assed emo/goth wannabe.  the part with him walking down the street pointing the six shooter at every woman he passed is probably the worst thing i've ever seen in a movie.

you could literally replace that part of the movie with footage of a homeless guy taking a shtein in a cardboard box and it would have been an improvement.

without the cheesy goth thing, the movie was probably a 5/10.  but since they kept it in there, it's a 2/10 and that's only because i thought the cgi and fight scenes were pretty decent.

Spiderman 2 and 3 were 2 of thee worst movies ever made. They totally shtein on the character Venom in 3. Venom is Eddie Brock like NGM explained. Huge, evil character that pretty much kicks the shtein out of Spiderman everytime they battle. One of my fav if not my fav other than Wolverine from my comic book days as a kid. A movie just about Venom would be a dream of mine.

Saw Couples Retreat during the big storm today. Damn, it really made me want to go to Bora Bora.

The movie was cute, and the ladies were nice. I took a shine to Malin Akerman.
