Its only one theater in town that has it cheap like that. The regular shows are $6.25. I go there as much as I can. But to see Slumdog we went to another place and it was $9.25 a piece.

Same here, 8 bucks for a farging Matinee.  Underworld Rise of the Lycans sucks ass, luckily at 5:50pm last friday there was only 20 other people in the theater. I farging hate the movies.

I'm watching Shoot 'em Up while I run. What a refreshingly honest movie.  Knows exactly what it is, and doesn't pretend to be more than that.  Knows that it's completely ridiculous, and doesn't care.  I'm not sure I would have paid $10 to sit in the movies for it, but perfect to watch when exercising.

Like I mentioned earlier in the thread, we saw Frost/Nixon on Friday and Slumdog Millionaire on Saturday. Please go check out Slumdog, simply excellent.

We were at the mall yesterday and bored so we checked out Paul Blart Mall Cop. $4 matinee was the only way I would see it. I love Kevin James from King of Queens. The movie was pretty much as I expected...stupid and somewhat entertaining. I laughed only a few times.

But we had this fat wonderbraling hyena sitting behind us. The theater was packed with families and a lot of kids. But sitting right behind us was this lady. She laughed at everything. EVERYTHING!

And towards the end she was dropping commentary at the screen. Thngs such as "Oh you go Paul!" and the old cliche of "Oh no he didn't!!".

Just perpetuating a stereotype.

I wonder if Phreak wore his Trotter jersey to the movies.

Doubt(2008):

Damn good movie. Rourke I thought was a runaway for best actor until I saw Steep and Hoffman's performances in this movie. Both did a hell of a job. The movie was definitely a thinker and keeps you gripped more and more as it unfolds. Some bashed the ending, but I personally loved it. One of the best of 2008 for sure.

A-/10
Calling it right on the $ since day one.
Just pointing laughing, and living it up while watching the Miami Heat stink it up.

Wall-E - the whole corporate takeover of the world concept isn't too original, but damn everything else in the movie was. Just amazing animation and landscapes created. Can't imagine where animation is going to be in just a year or two. 4/5

wrestler - mickey rourke overrated - movie overrated - marisa tomei underrated....i was so disappointed in this movie...i thought it would be sad and very emotional...but it never pulled me in and got me invested in rourkes character...i actually might have even been rooting against him....way to much wrestling...every last one of those scenes was super boring and there was way too much of it...i also would have liked a little background on why he is broke...the deli explosion scene was so phony and contrived and you could see it coming from a mile away...gay gay gay

2/10 based on expectations

4.5/10 taken straight up

I saw Gran Torino yesterday.  Some of the writing was lousy, and some of the acting was worse.  There are a few good scenes, and Eastwood is excellent.  On the whole, I was disappointed but mildly entertained.

Max Payne - 2/5 - nothing special. felt at times they tried to copy the whole, black and white with some color Sin City look, but never pulled it off as good. i never played the games, so maybe it would be cool if i did, but otherwise about what i expected.

chop shop - steady cam shot in the vein of a documentary its the story of an orphan brother/sister duet trying to make a living by living in his bosses garage in queens near shea stadium....its an absolute brilliant movie with one of the best endings ive seen in a long time and to put it in context with the wrestler that i just watched....it makes you wonder how certain movies get wide release and some others dont
