BTW, I know for a fact O&A are big in Philly.  If not for XM, they would easily be top 3 in the ratings.  That said, I got sick of them after a while on XM.  IMO, they're better on terrestrial radio where they have to skirt around the filters.  Still, they're funnier than Stern, who's a pompous unfunny douche.

they've done a great job at taking the genre in the direction they did. Like I have said in the past...the Homeless Shopping Spree in 2001 was the single funniest 3 hours I have ever heard live on the radio.

Their individual numbers were ok, however, they never got better. Or should i said the never got "more gooder"...meaning their fans stuck with them, but their fanbase never grew. They became irrelevant. Shock radio has become irrelevant. Infinity dug their own grave with shock radio when they fired O&A needlessly in 2002.

HAAAAAAAAAAAAA, it was only a matter of time before these stern wannabe hacks got the boot here. garbage doesn't stay on the air too long in this city and they will be getting pink slips in other cities down the road too.

btw - arbitron just came out with their first ratings for sattelite and stern is beating them there too.

they'll be begging howard to do fill-ins for ferrell when he's on vaction soon.

nothing is "keeping them afloat", they are doing fine on XM, they are doing fine in many cities on FM, they just didn't do what they thought they would do in Philly on WYSP, one of reasons being the loyal fanbase you just described

stern is beating them on sattelite too. all this free advertising they had and xm didn't get any real boost in subscriptions. stern mentioned he was going to sirius and their subsciptions went through the roof.

Sirius' Howard 100 (ch 100) had a cume of 1.22 million listeners and an AQH of 96,700
XM's The Virus (ch 202) had a cume of 216,800 listeners and an AQH of 20,800
While Howard 100 was the #1 most listened to satellite radio channel, XM's Top 20 on 20 (ch 20) ranked as #2, with 1.05 million cume listeners and an AQH
