how come ive never ever heard of these guys until this board...and now theres a post about them every month or so

they are howard stern greaseman type morning guys??

i hate howard stern, but to put him in the same sentence as the greasman, makes me want to bite somebody.

Thank you for that. Greaseman  was a fleshpop.

As for O and A being funnier than Stern, I used to have more respect for your sense of humor.
Alert, alert. Look well at the rainbow. The fish will be running very soon.

SunMo

back in the day, Howard was king, no doubt.

but right now, O&A are funnier, just my opinoin.

Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.

"With the combination of XM and CBS Radio, we now have the best gig in the business. The O & A Show is going to be bigger and better than ever," said Gregg "Opie" Hughes.

"We'll now be able to reach millions of new fans and old fans with our new morning show on CBS while offering our loyal XM listeners an uncut show and two extra hours that will only be available on XM," said Anthony Cumia.

"Opie and Anthony have proven their determination to succeed in this business, and have a relationship with their audience that is second to none in the industry," said Joel Hollander, chairman and chief executive officer, CBS Radio. "CBS Radio is well known for having among its portfolio some of the best brands in radio, and it's great to have O&A among that stable again. Loyal listeners of O&A have grown accustomed to a show that's real and entertaining. As we move forward, we do so with confidence that this new enterprise will continue in that same spirit."

"XM's agreement with CBS Radio is a big win for everyone," said Hugh Panero, President and CEO, XM Satellite Radio. New York - WFNY 92.3
Dallas - KLLI 105.3
Philadelphia - WYSP 94.1
Boston - WBCN 104.1

Cleveland - WXRK 92.3

Gregg "Opie" Hughes and Anthony Cumia joined XM Satellite Radio in 2004. Since their satellite radio debut in October 2004, the talk duo have become one of the most popular programs on XM's lineup. Hughes and Cumia first teamed up in 1994 hosting an evening program for WBAB-FM in Long Island, NY. In early 1995, the duo moved to WAAF-FM in Worcester, MA, where they began hosting "Opie and Anthony Show" in the afternoons and became one of the Boston market's most popular radio shows. The team left Boston in 1998 and moved to New York's WNEW-FM, where they became the No. 1 afternoon drive show. Their show was syndicated to 22 markets around the country.

Viacom was forced to pay a multi-million dollar settlement to end investigations by the Federal Communications Commission into allegations of indecency in its radio and television programming.

The fine, one of the largest in FCC history, settles three pending FCC investigations, one involving shock jock Howard Stern and two involving Opie and Anthony, who lost their Viacom-owned New York radio show in 2002 after it featured a couple purporting to be having sex inside St. Patrick's Cathedral in Manhattan.

CBS, which owns CBS Radio, is also the parent company of CBS 2 and WCBSTV.Com.

QuoteOpie & Anthony Virus Grows By Four Stations
June 2, 2006

The anticipated expansion of the Opie & Anthony program is going to hit next week with four new CBS Radio affiliates coming on board. During their program this morning, Anthony read an email from Los Angeles-based agent Bob Eatman that stated: "I got it done. We start on all station, except on WJFK, on Monday. WJFK starts on June 26. You can officially announce it."

CBS Radio has confirmed O&A will start Monday (6/5) on stations in three markets -- WXYT-AM/Detroit (6am - 9am), WAZU/Columbus (3pm - 6pm) and WZNE/Rochester (2pm - 5pm). On June 26, the program will debut on WJFK/Washington, D.C. (10am - 1pm). In addition, WJFK will feature an online simulcast of the show at www.1067freefm.com.

As first reported by FMQB two weeks ago, expansion of the O&A program -- featuring Gregg "Opie" Hughes, Anthony Cumia and Jim Norton -- is expected to continue to grow as Eatman, who is handling all syndication deals for the program, works out deals with other companies. Another deal in the works that is expected to come to fruition looks to be with Citadel Broadcasting and include a half-dozen stations reaching such markets as Providence, Buffalo and New London, CT.

QuoteXM Radio Suspends Opie & Anthony

WASHINGTON and NEW YORK, May 15 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- XM Radio announced today that the company has suspended Gregg "Opie" Hughes and Anthony Cumia, hosts of "The Opie & Anthony Show" and ceased broadcast of the show for 30 days, effective immediately.

XM Radio deplored the comments aired on "The Opie & Anthony Show" last week. At the time, the company strongly expressed its views to Opie and Anthony, and they issued an immediate apology.

Comments made by Opie and Anthony on yesterday's broadcast put into question whether they appreciate the seriousness of the matter. The management of XM Radio decided to suspend Opie and Anthony to make clear that our on-air talent must take seriously the responsibility that creative freedom requires of them.

As a company, XM provides customers with tools to control what they listen to on XM. "The Opie & Anthony Show" appears on one of XM's explicit language channels (XL). Whenever a radio is tuned to an explicit language channel, the letters "XL" continuously appear on the screen. XM frequently mentions on its explicit language channels that the content may be inappropriate for certain listeners and tells how to "block" channels that feature this type of content. Channel blocking is available through xmradio.com or by calling 1-800-XMRADIO.

The censorship of radio is over the top.

Thanks, all you racist shteins for making a big deal out of "nappy-headed hos".

phattymatty

they did a skit the other day where some homeless guy talked about how he would like to rape condi rice.  they egged him on the whole time.  i heard it, it wasn't that bad.

This country is a JOKE.  Sun your gonna hate me but O&A are nothing that they were previously.  I still listen but often its just not funny anymore.  Without Anthony and Jimmy the show is gone.  Ant is ridiculously hilarious and crazy at the same time.  I just cant believe that XM the land of the Uncensored is punishing them.  This has Karmazin written all over it.
