My son has excellent musical taste.  Right now, he's grooving around the house to John Lee Hooker, stopping now and then to pump his legs up and down and do a slow motion spin or two before getting back to the business of farging shtein up.

Your son sounds drunk.  Well done.

Been listening to Cake a lot lately.

I have an awesome youtube clip of him drinking himself off a chair, being served by a cute, older girl.  Here, I'll send it to you.

A couple weeks ago I got 10 Warren Zevon albums and they've provided the soundtrack to my life since.

I'm ashamed to have discovered him this late in life, the guy was the shtein.

You must have heard one or two songs of his before. Werewolves of London or Lawyers, Guns and Money.

The man. The myth. The legend.

Like Zevon, except for perhaps his biggest hit.  "Werewolves of London" drive me nuts for some reason.

Yeah, I knew Werewolves, Lawyers Guns & Money, Excitable Boy, Roland the Headless Gunner, Poor Poor Pitiful Me, I'll Sleep When I'm Dead, etc....the hits as it were.

What I didn't know was how great the rest of his work was.

I can't get over Desperadoes Under the Eaves right now...what a gorgeous song.

Another thing I've learned is that Jackson Browne, who I've always thought of as a pretty boy soft rock throw away, was instrumental in getting Zevon work.  He really went to bat for Zevon and so my opinion of Browne has softened.  I still don't much like his music, but his association with Zevon improves my estimation of him.

Also...look at the personnel on some of these albums...for example:

Holy crap, what a crew.

It's basically a who's who of California musical superstars of the 70s.

Excitable Boy is one of my favorite albums ever.

Diomedes

The name David Lindley jumped out at me from that list...that guy is right up there with Ry Cooder imho.
