I was happy and secure letting this season drift by thinking Penn State was good, but not that good.  If it weren't for that icehole Lloyd Carr and the Hoyda refs caving in to his whining, PSU would be in line to play for the national championship this year.  :boom

An ad hominem fallacy consists of asserting that someone's argument is wrong and/or he is wrong to argue at all purely because of something discreditable/not-authoritative about the person or those persons cited by him rather than addressing the soundness of the argument itself.

It's easier to just pretend we wouldn't have.

it's pretty amazing they went from being absolutely pathetic last year to being the 3rd (4th at worst) best team in the entire country.

I'm not sure that they are the 3rd of 4th best team. USC, Texas, Miami, ND and VT would probably all beat them. Maybe even ND. But having said that, it si pretty awesome watching them whomp up on the Big Ten. That only took 12 years.

The way VA Tech played the other night, I doubt they'd beat the Nits.

They were exposed, dude.  Ex-posed.

I would say:

1. USC
2. Texas
3. Penn State
4. Miami
5. VT
6. ND

you could probably flip-flop PSU and Miami.

i'm hoping for a PSU/ND BCS Bowl matchup.

I would agree with that. 3-6 are pretty much in the same boat. Bama deserves to be up there too (they're who I meant to type in place of the second ND).

And for the record, I hate ND, but think Weis is going to make them into a perennial championship contender.

yeah, i think so too.  the reason i put them below Penn State, Miami, and VT is because of their defense.  if they had a decent defense they would've beaten Michigan State and possibly USC.

I think 'Bama is a bit overrated.  yeah, they blew out Florida, but Florida isn't proving to be as good as everybody thought.  they still have to play LSU and Auburn, they could lose one of if not both of those games.

Penn State's final game of the season at Michigan State (Nov 19, 4 PM) will be nationally televised on ESPN.

Am I the only one who has an awful feeling about this game?

i know what youre saying about the michigan game and even as recently as last weekend i was still fuming about it...but texas and usc are both going to be undefeated and it would have been much more frustrating for ups to have been unbeaten and not have a shot at a title

I always have an awful feeling about PSU games whenever "if they win this game..." has any meaning...

I'm not so sure about that - the computers have PSU #3 as they are now.  If they had won at Michigan, I have to think they would be close to if not past Texas right now...
