Great pics!  I had a very hard time watching Eagles games this year on TV.

Don, you have to spring for Direct TV and get the NFL channel. I have it and I don't know how I survived 52 years of football without it.  ;)

i'm torn...

for every good memory, there's a bad one.

for every game 6 win vs the Braves in the 1993 NLCS, there's a 21-7 loss  to the rams in the playoffs.

for every world series win, there's a super bowl loss.

i have a lot of fond memories of the vet. but i will not miss it. in the same way i don't miss my 1st apartment after college. sure, it was great while i was there...but no way in hell you'd get me back there  ;)

A beautiful parking lot.

I'm glad I got to experience the Vet.  Thanks to those that had a big part in making it happen ;)

Having said that, I cannot wait to experience the Linc!!

TempleOwl

I was there when the Ealges beat the Cowboys in the playoffs in 1980.  I was there the day the Phillies clinched the NL east in 1980.  I saw Kite man, i caught a home run hit by Willie Stargell, I saw Carlton, Bunning, Bergey Charmichael, Montgonery, Reggie, Bowa and thousands of others play there...

...and despite all that I say, "Good riddance"

77 playoff - was that the year Luzinski dropped Manny Mota's fly ball?  Bad memories of that one.

On a side note , this is really weird..lets see  Connie Mack Stadium, Franklin Field, The Vet, and now the Linc...hmmmm back is starting to hurt some now    :D

But Franklin Field lives on! And who would have guessed, back in 1971, that Franklin Field would outlast the Vet?

I was at the first football game at the Vet, preseason of 1971 vs. Buffalo, along with FS61 and our dad. My enduring memory is of getting a good, long look at the outside of the stadium afterward because the traffic jam in the parking lot was beyond comprehension - didn't think we'd ever get out!

Sounds a lot like the parking situation at the Linc this year. :)

Yes, except this time it was before the game, not after!  :P

A parking lot is going to be built for the Linc and other facilities?

PhillyGirl

Yes, for the Linc and Citizen's Bank Park. They are also supposed to be (in the future) building some restaurants and such down there to make it a whole complex type thing....

Citizen's Bank Park is the new baseball stadium or they have yet to built the new ballpark? Sorry for the 20 questions. I'm not familiar with the sports complex part of Philly.
