It didn't take a crystal ball to know that McNabb was going to have a rough time of it early in the year.  I don't recall anyone suggesting otherwise, actually.  I do remember people being pissed that Garcia was cut loose, though.

I'm not feeling it enough to go do a search or anything, but there were PLENTY of people who were ready to ship McNabb out of town on the next thing smoking, and writing him off as done early on last season...

Ah well, ain't no big deal...

my belief is that 95% of fans knew injury was the reason behind his terrible play and only about 50% admitted it while the other 50% of the people used the poor play as a means of ripping someone they didnt like to begin with

Without a doubt.  The first half of the season McNabb showed some flashes of being healthy again, but nothing consistant which is probably why people were so quick to write him off......along with the fact that there are plenty of McNabb haters out there.

The big question going into last season wasn't so much if McNabb would be 100% recovered but would he look good enough by the end of the year to keep his job and be the starter for 2008?  The answer was obviously yes.  The last 3 or 4 games of the year he really looked 3 or 4 years younger.  He was slimmer, more agile and faster than we had seen him in quite some time.  The weight was the biggest difference imo.  If he keeps that weight down it will definitely help his knee by not having to support, run and cut while holding up the extra baggage.

So, have we concluded that "the WRs are fine"?

I think the conclusion is that "Obviously we need to do a better job on that."

However, in all honestly I think that excellent recieevers are as hard to find as excellent QB's.
There are really not that many in the league, and once a team has one they hold on to it for dear life.

What is the last true #1 reciever that left his team before his skills were gone?
PlasticHo?
Coles/Moss swap?

If you don't draft 'em, you usually don't have them.

Also, imagine if we were Chicago fans...

Cheggie Brownson is going to have a breakout year. Wasn't he rumored trade bait awhile back?

Both were via trades though and not free agency.  Not really sure if those examples would apply.
