went to the game today....it was really boring

just a horrible atmosphere. 2 horrible teams. no player thats exciting or interesting to watch. it really sucks.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

rjs246

I mean, is there any question about this? He definitely doesn't know how to read an analog clock. farging meatheaded sack of shtein.
Is rjs gonna have to choke a bitch?

QuoteOfficials from other teams tell Stark that the Phillies are asking for each team's top three or four prospects in any Hamels deal, but they're only willing to eat about $10MM of the remaining $90MM+ on Hamels' contract. Stark quotes one unnamed executive, who told him, "Ruben wants his doors blown off in order to trade him. And you don't get your doors blown off if this kind of money is attached. It doesn't work that way."

Meanwhile, Morosi hears that the Dodgers and Cardinals are the two most likely clubs to acquire Hamels

Joc Pederson + Corey Seager + eat a lot more salary than $10M is still a hell of a deal. Who knows if LA would even be willing to do that. I want to see RAJ deal Hamels just to see if he butchers the deal or not

Also, lol'd @ Todd's poem. Well done

I'm one of the few people  here who both really likes Cole and thinks he's worth what he gets.  He's also probably still in his prime for 2-3 years.

That being said the phillies will blow for 2-3 years anyway so I don't see the point in keeping him because by the time they're good again, if all goes right, he'll be out of his prime.  Also a different situation than Rollins or Utley because Hamels should still bring a lot back in return if they eat some $

MDS

the phillies, as an organization, refuse to admit that they stink. they are hopeless.

i can see roob's plan. get 2-3 starters for hamels. free up the cash with him, lee and burnett (retirement). trade byrd. trade papelbon. use the newly found salary space to overpay for jon lester, james shields and 1 other starter on the market. sell a playoff team in 2015.

i hate sports

A team getting Hamels with $80m on his contract is cheap compared to what pitchers are getting now. Don't cry poor, GMs, when you'll hand out $150-200m to other pitchers.

Rome

Other pitchers are worth 150 million.  Colleen isn't worth 80.  If he was every GM in MLB would be on his ass right now.

based on what other than W/L

Eagles_Legendz

3.3 career ERA (has only had one season where his ERA was over 3.06 in the last 5).

Consistently excellent K/9 ratio.  Great WHIP.  Durable - pitched 200 IP or more 5 of the last 6 seasons.  His playoff ERA is 3.09 (he was great in the playoffs his entire career except 09 obviously).  He's reasonably young.  Tenth best active career WAR for pitchers (for our MDS friends in the audience).  The only player ahead of him on that list who is younger is Felix.
