I have an irrational hatred for BBT.

Seinfeld I always find amusing but never enough to really watch.  It's a good show for me to have on in the background if I'm not really watching.  But I'll always appreciate it because it made Curb possible and I love Curb.

I've never watched 1 second of bbt. The rest of what you wrote is pretty spot on. Curb trumps Seinfeld in every way possible.

bbt was good but it wore thin on me and now after seeing silicon valley theres no way i could back.

i was/am a big seinfeld fan but i cant deny that curb is much better.

BBT is as cookie cutter as it gets when it comes to sit coms, but since there's a lot of nerdy comic book and sci-fi references and words that most people don't know the meaning of, it's considered some groundbreaking smart comedy. That said,  I watch it semi-regularly and am usually entertained by it.  I also like the fact that it's name is an affront to religion. I know a lot of Bible thumpers who watch the show regularly and the irony is just delicious.

Oh,  and Penny. That helps.

Wasn't there a thread that always talked about the late night shows and the turnover there? Was it this one?

Anyways, mds how bad has the Late Night Show w/ Seth Myers been? My buddy's band is playing it in a couple weeks

MDS

i havent seen one second of it or heard really any buzz from it, which leads me to believe it sucks. generally in late night good bits and whatnot pop up on twitter and such, and ive seen exactly nothing from that show.

seth myers is an amusing dude, but thats about it. he was a boring pick, especially for 1230. with that said because jimmy fallon is so popular, his ratings are good. but your buddy's band will be playing at like 125am and nobody really watches musical guests on late night shows as it is.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

Rome

The musical guests are the only reason to watch those shows.  How many bands did Letterman break on Late Night - a hundred or more?

Unless tepid jokes and moronic banter with actors shilling their latest bombs are your thing, anyway.

MDS

i honestly dont know how many bands letterman broke....maybe some back in the 80s when musical guests mattered

now since musical tastes are so fractured, its impossible to find something the audience is going to like. a lot of shows dont even want to have them, but they are good time wasters.

Watched the pilot of Tyrant yesterday and am pretty intrigued. Probably gonna watch the rest of it this season to see how it is.

I haven't been able to keep up with Suits this season due to somehow never being at home when it airs, but of the episodes I've seen so far, it's been about as good as the first 3 seasons.

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

PhillyPhreak54

I watched it too, as my boss said it was good. I lasted like two episodes and it just didn't keep me interested. I deleted it from my DVR rotation.

Nathan for you is great if you like awkward humor.

Seabiscuit36

The Strain is pretty damn intriguing so far.

Seabiscuit36

The Strain has an odd mix of WWII, Demons, alien organisms, and Zombie like creatures.  Some of the cineplay reminds me of Resident Evil video games.

Watched True Detective over the past week and finished it on Saturday.  Really enjoyed it, mostly because of MM and Woody.  The storyline itself was really rushed and a lot of convenient tricks were used to move the plot forward.  Really could have used at least two more eps.
