"Would you like him to be better on kickoffs? Sure you would. But if you take both of those stats, where does he rank in the league in [field goals and kickoffs], and add 'em up and divide by two ... he's roughly the 14th-best kicker in this league.

"So there's 17 teams that want a guy as good as him."

when i read this i read that roughly 2 teams would want a guy as good as him for their kickoffs

Haha. He's basically average to slightly above average on FG's and terrible on kick offs.  Maybe he's an ok fit with this team given the offenses ability to move the ball and stalled drives will result in more opportunities for <40 yd FG attempts,  but his kickoffs are atrocious.  Maybe if the league moves the tee up to midfield he can finally get a few touchbacks. That Minn game still infuriates me.

But hey,  he was the "best" pick in 2011.

Also, there's no way that 17 other teams would actually want him.

the problem with fipps analysis is that the reason henery is so accurate is that hes never allowed to kick from outside of 45 yards...and obviously that is going to lower his ranking amongst the leagues FG kickers

Times must be changing.  Five to ten years ago, it seemed like great kickers were a dime a dozen.  Now, if you've got an Alex Henery, you're standing pat because there just isn't any better talent available.
