stark is a legend but a complete phillies homer....

what part of that article shows his homerism ?

couldnt care less about what he thinks on this...nothing to do with him being a phillies cheerleader. which he is. its fine, its good. i like it.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

Giles made his debut with 2 outs in the 9th and....yeaa

Jimmy is a HOF

To me, Rollins is still a wait-and-see.  Right now, he has around 2230 hits.  If he performs to norm for the rest of the season, he'll be between 2300-2350 at the extremes.  He's 35 years old this season.

If he can stay injury free and perform at his current level for three more seasons (150 hits X 3), that will put him between 2750-2800 for his career.  Four seasons would put him on the cusp of 3000.

150 could be conservative, as he has never dropped below this in a full season, other than 2010 when he got hurt, but age and other factors could drive it lower.  160 could get him 2780-2830, while dropping to 140 would drop it to 2720-2770.  And injuries could always play the spoiler for Rollins.

Would 2500 hits be enough to put Rollins in?  2750?  Would he need to get all the way to 3000?  I could see Rollins playing to 40-41 or so if he still had a shot of reaching it.  Far from definite even discounting chances of injury, but there's a decent enough shot to mention.

What does he need?

phillies will be under 500 this year...book it

QB Eagles

Damn. I wish the Phils had diehard fans like the Marlins do. Whether they win or lose, those same 45 fans are always there for them.

Of course that's one of the flaws of doing a simple correlation between wins and attendance. Living in Pittsburgh, I can tell you another flaw. When the Pirates win, it doesn't change their attendance much... it changes the composition of the attendance. Because it's just a great field there are always tons of out-of-town fans at all the games. In years past I have gone to games and been part of a clear Phillies majority in attendance. Probably won't be the case this year.

Cheer up sports fans.

QuoteAnthony Hewitt, the Phillies' 2008 first-round pick, was released Thursday after failing to develop in seven disappointing seasons spent mostly in the lower levels of the minor leagues.
It closes the book on a player who stands as a symbol of the Phils' early-round draft failures over the last decade. Since 2003, the Phillies have used their first draft pick on a high school player eight of 12 times. Only four of those 12 picks reached the majors, with Joe Savery's 44 MLB games leading the way.
