I'm delighted with this development.  Old white people bounced a Conservative altar boy in exchange for an extremist zealot who wasn't even welcome in the Church.   It's a fine day for progressives, really. 

Old white people who will die today:  6,500
Young colored people who will gain voting rights today:  12,000

Day by day, the net closes in, and day by day the conservative movement strikes at it's own under the stress.

Look, my district is pretty reliably conservative so there's totally a chance that this guy will win the general election, but there's strong evidence that a lot of Dems showed up to vote against Cantor yesterday and that this isn't some right-wing rebellion. The turnout was somehow 18,000 higher than the Republican primary in 2012, almost a 40% increase. That's pretty fishy in my opinion. People are trying to paint this as an anti-immigration thing, but the latest PPPoll showed that the district actually supports bipartisan immigration reform by a huge margin.

Maybe this guy will get coached up or maybe it just won't matter in a conservative district, but I think that as long as the Democratic candidate isn't a complete assclown this district is very much a tossup now.

also the post did a real nice breakdown that doesnt entirely dispell the notion but concludes that the democratic turnout whatever it was did not decide the primary for brat

Interesting. That does seem to dispel the idea of Dems being the cause. On the plus side, my county appears to be the only sane one in his district, so that's nice.

what floors me is how important illegal immigration is to a northern southern united states district like the va-07....if this was some super rural district in mississippi then i could understand....or if they ousted cantor over some religious based issue like abortion or a fiscal issue like spending it would make more sense

but it shocks me that a highly educated mostly suburban district cares that deeply about illegal immigration

To be fair, Henrico county is the only part of his district that is 'suburban'. The rest is farging backwoods as shtein. Which, of course, is why the seat is so reliably conservative.
