i dont know the first thing about the rays nor do i care...they could be the least interesting franchise in any sport...all i know is they dont ever win anything and they draw four thousand fans a game....even the phillies beat them for a title

neither of those things, or oaklands continued success, have anything to do with any of that

those franchises use advanced stats and analytics. despite severe financial differences, they compete with the best teams in the league and generally make the playoffs. winning the playoffs is a completely different story from competing for 162 games...just ask the braves and their great pitching. maddux and glacines 20 win seasons didnt really make a difference in october.

there was a good interview on seth myers show last night with the grantland sabre nerd about montreal baseball...he grew up in montreal and liked baseball not hockey and had some cool stories

great im happy for them....so they are just like a dozen other small market teams who make the playoffs and dont win....they should be proud

cleveland had some runs here and there but nothing quite as consistent as tampa or oakland. pittsburgh just made it.
