"hard core" phillies fan i work with just texted me that cliff lee is already being hit for in the 2nd inning.

That may be the post of the season.   :-D

Awesome offensive explosion we probably won't see for months.  WTF Cliff Lee?

Cliff was owed that for all the times he was farged out of any run support.

LA just said on the radio that they elminated the 3rd to 1st pickoff move and it's now a balk?  i didn't hear anything about that all offseason, good if true.

Happened last year

Me either.

But ya know...remember that time he jogged to first?!?! Or how about that time he lollygagged after a ball?!

GRIT.

PhillyPhreak54

BTW I wonder if Jimmy whispered "I told you ST stats don't mean shtein" to Ryno in the dugout?

amaro and J are cruising down broad showing everyone their 12 inchers

the old men gonna do it! right homers!!
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

Sandberg glad Rollins' 200th HR 'out of the way'

I know that Sandberg is trying to establish something of an "old school" mentality, but it is a milestone for Rollins. Celebrate a little, will ya?

ice grillin you

you dont establish a mentality on a team with basically an entire roster of 30+ years olds and many of them lifetime phillies...especially when you were hired five minutes ago....when they officially blow this up and start over if rhino is still there then you can perhaps weild an iron fist...plus they already had the old school curmudgeon act with bowa and it failed

Agreed. That plays well for a younger team ala Kirk Gibson in Arizona. But when you have the old guys the fire and brimstone act will wear thin quickly...especially if they don't win.

Geowhizzer

I agree with both of you, but that seems to be exactly what he's trying to do.  Swinging the pendulum from Uncle Cholly, like Bowa did from Francona.

Either Amaro will actually begin to tear down the team and get younger, giving Sandberg something to work with, or Sandberg won't last that long.

Either way Phillies baseball is entering a period in the wilderness.  Hopefully that costs Amaro his job.

MDS

what

you or me or the ghost of connie mack could manage the phillies and the result would be the same. the players are who they are and sandberg, manuel, bowa, havas, greenberg arent going to play a difference in the end result.
