its kind of crazy because at a time like this when everything is so new and youre trying to build team character and get everyone in unison with each, this kind of incident will cause divide in the locker room.

you hear it all the time...you need a strong locker room to win with as less negativity as possible. the guys that cause this are usually the first to go. now of course the eagles are at a time where they dont have the true talent to win big, but you at least want to get off to a good start for the future. this kind of incident has all the potential in the world to rear its ugly head at any point in the season and locker room so he should really be let go.

PhillyPhreak54

Exactly.

He needs to be sent on his way to preserve the locker room sanity and harmony.

They can find someone to catch 20 passes a year elsewhere

MDS

the eagles will forever be known as the team that employs dog murderers and racists

good
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

Cooper sucks and the Eagles can certainly do better than him but some of you are suggesting he shouldn't be permitted to make a living because he used a racial epithet in anger.   That's chilling and about as un-American as it gets.

Look, everyone makes mistakes.  He shouldn't be booted off the team because he called someone a name.

He should be cut if he's not talented enough to make the roster, and so far, he's been one of the top 4 receivers on this squad.  Cutting him for "locker room harmony" is ridiculous.  Those men are professionals and you don't have to love the people you work with.  You just have to do your farging job.  If someone is butt-hurt enough to quit on the Eagles or request a trade because a teammate said something insulting, you really don't need that sort of weak-minded Hoyda on your team to begin with.

We're all adults here and we likely all have people that we work with that we're not in love with.  That doesn't stop us from going to work each day and doing the best job we can.  The Eagles are no different in that regard.

reese125

while i agree thats the way it should be, I don't think you're grasping the magnitude of this in today's society and media.

how many on air "professionals" have been let go from their job for being politically incorrect just out of blunder alone? difference here cooper had some severe hate behind it which make his case worse.

the eagles do not need this right now--he can make a living- just not with the eagles.

If I work with devout Christians and say, "goddamn" should I get fired for saying something that is utterly offensive to them?

It's PC bullshtein, plain and simple.

Bottom line for me is if the guy isn't talented or productive enough to play on the team and contribute to them winning, then yeah, cut his farging ass.   And I actually think that's the case with Cooper.  He's not worth the headache.  All I'm suggesting is he shouldn't be cut because he got pissed off and uttered a taboo word in the heat of a confrontation.

Tomahawk

Then cut him because he sucks too because he really does suck. Even if nobody on the current roster can win the 4th WR spot from him, doesn't mean he earned a spot.

He can make his living working with Reno and Chickie & Pete's.

i love how romey keeps going back to the in the heat of the confrontation thing...like that makes it less bad...or like that word is ever said in a hateful manner during a normal civil discourse...the PC card that whites always throw out is hilarious as well...its PC to you romey cause it doesnt bother you or hurt you...its just another word to you...its not just another word to millions of black people who as of a few years before you were born didnt have basic civil/human rights and for 400 years before that had their ASSES KICKED in this country...and these days with the all out frontal assault on voting rights the memories are as fresh as ever...so farg your PC shtein...this is real life for a lot of people

now to the supposed "confrontation"....the 'confrontation' was him not being allowed into the vip area of the show...so it was a complete one way "confrontation"...star athlete doesnt get vip treatment...gets salty and all too easily calls the a security guard the n word in a vile and hateful manner after the guard has already walked away from the "confrontation"...i dont want someone that can so easily have that word roll off his tongue in my locker room...and the anger behind it is almost as bad as the word itself...this wasnt a slip up....he wasnt being reggie dennyed...he had a tempter tantrum beause daddy wouldnt buy him a pony....and the first word that came to mind was that word...if another team wants him more power to them...no one is saying he cant make a living...but i want him off the team i root for

george hegeman got cut for not pushing a tackling sled hard enough...darrell crutchfield got cut for smoking weed....christ pimp got suspended for a game for being late to a team meeting...riley cooper does this and gets a fine a written statement from the eagles condemning it and more paychecks

the eagles came up woefully short here as did goodell.....at the bare farging minimum he should have been suspended for X amount of time...and even if you dont suspend him for games right away....i dont get bringing him back in the locker 18 hours after shtein blew up....for the apology yes...but then hes gotta go home for a while and everyone has to ponder shtein...him being out on the practice field yesterday was really dumb

By all accounts Cooper is an entitled douchebag across the board. And he's not talented enough to really tolerate the trouble. Is there a double standard for more talented players? Of course.

Does he deserve a second chance? Probably. Doesn't have to be here, though. Who needs the headache? I'd say cut him and eliminate the distraction; but if they were going to do that, they should have done it right away. Either that, or come down harder than they did to send a message. Now the team just looks wishy-washy.

Rome

If they were going to cut him over the comment they should have the moment they found out about it.  If they up and cut him now they come off as petty cowards who bowed to public criticism rather than doing what was the right thing in the first place.

Wishy washy, mostly because the words and tone didn't match the actions; not because of the speed.
