if jimmy is playing hardball thats one thing...but if hes serious about refusing a trade then its clear he cares more about setting team records than winning. cause he aint winning here and he damn well knows it. but its par for the course of jimmy is care first and foremost about jimmy.

meanwhile GRIT cant be serious about signing an extension. he just cant. every single player on that team save for rookie hof brown and confused immigrant chooch knows this team is complete garbage. if he stays then hes just dumb and/or has 0 interest in winning. which goes directly against his salt of the earth hustle and bustle white man persona.

meanwhile lee is begging to bail and ruin is such a colossal pos he wont do it unless he gets the return of the century. and with the events of this week you can lock in another miserable season next year.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

Somebody go get Igy off the Walt Whitman.  Todd can stay there.

Gee... I'm really glad the Phils didn't trade anybody so they can keep the status quo.

That said, a helluva play by Ashe.  Start him the rest of the year.

Rome

I was doing the dinner dishes and actually missed that half inning.   Hilarious.   Just incredible.

i make the mistake of putting on the sound for a second thinking its 7-1 so these two clowns on the mic cant be that bad of homers....and the first thing I hear is wheels talking about how great a job it was a valdes to strike out the 8 hitter because now he gets to the pitcher and can maybe "get out of this thing"

That's the plan. Smug also name dropped Mikael Franco. I'd guess if Asche proves himself they'll work Franco in left or at 1B. Since Howard is the scapegoat for Smug's failures maybe just maybe they get rid of him.

30% of the payroll is going to guys on DL. Would have been even more dead money if they had traded Lee and eaten half his contract too. The disparity between the money going out the door and the actual product on the field is crazy with this team.

Which is why they needed to blow this thing up 2 years ago. There's no possible combination of moves even a competent GM could make to fix this team.

And now since they feel the need to try and extend GRIT (or at least make a show of it so South Jersey moms and various white people don't catch feelings), they are pushing everything back even further. It's maddening but then again we all survived the 1994-2007 run we can survive this.

Like I told you earlier it's going to take minimum 20 years for the current owners to all die. Old rich white people refuse to go easily. And really it's not even the silent partners...they are just greedy republican money grubbers. They'll spend what they can in order to make a profit.

It's Monty. He runs the organization. It's his call to fire Wade, hire Gillick, groom Amaro, keep Wheeler, etc. And even though he's a Philly boy he's a small time small market woe is me go get em next year loser. He's more Indianapolis than Philly.

it not even the money spent....their payroll is obviously big enough to win....but its money in the sense that they are setting back the franchise year by keeping this group together because on paper it will fill seats

and its money spent on things like international scouting and especially major league scouting....their farm system is a disaster but even more than that is their advanced scouts in the bigs are just horrible...i like monty but hes to small time and not forward thinking at all....and theres absolutely no leadership coming from anywhere in the owners ranks

QB Eagles

The Sixers and Eagles have plans for the future. Risky plans that could easily blow up on them, but at least they are trying to reinvent their teams. Ruin has no plan beyond limping the team into a new TV deal. His plan was to win the 2009 or 2010 World Series. Unfortunately he's still on that plan and it's 2013. It's not easy to tease out how much of the current scheme is coming from the owners. Obviously some of it has to be or else they would have gotten a real GM by now.
