They were locked in to the Lerch looking motherfarger.  I doubt anyone had ever seen Jones much less thought enough of him to move up.

They need a franchise wide reboot starting with the fossil owner.

I wanted them to trade back for Pulock, instead they go for the neanderthal.  Wonderful.  Love how they appeared to draft completely on need, not value.   This team is farged

where im at I don't have television so I couldn't watch....was there talk of teams tryin to move up and get jones after he dropped a couple spots...and if so were the flyers one of them?

Surprisingly, the draft went chalk until Jersey traded out of 9 to get Schneider.  There were some ripples of rumors, but nothing that seemed that close to happening.

Supposedly the Canadiens wanted to trade for #11 to get Morin, and the Flyers said no.

If the plan involves giving all their best players away, trading for or signing garbage, and completely ignoring the draft to build the team, they're right on schedule.

I like this move. It gives them flexibility. I mean, farg it, if you're going to sign Streit you're going for it. The Flyers circumvent the cap as well as any team in the league. They were strapped and still added $10 million knowing they have a bunch of f/a's to sign. Wonder if they'll move a young guy and maybe some salary for a puck moving defenseman.

The Philadelphia Flyers and captain Claude Giroux finalized an eight-year extension worth $66.2 million Thursday, sources told ESPN.com's Pierre LeBrun.

The extension is worth $8.275 million per year, sources said. Giroux still has one more year left on his current deal, so the new extension kicks in for the 2014-15 season.

The deal, which sources said also includes a full no-movement clause, comes with the Flyers reshaping a team that missed the playoffs last season.
