This. I dunno about worst QB draft ever, but the point still remains.

It's an ok draft not special and if a potential franchise qb actually falls to where hes supposed to go I'd take a chance in the second. This is all for not because he won't make it past 15 but I love pre draft speculation.
Why is he a 'potential franchise QB' if he's 'supposed to go' in the 2nd round? Because he's a decent prospect? Is he any more of a franchise QB at 35 than at 4?

In my mind he should be a 2nd round pick, in a lot of experts minds he's a top 10 pick. Nobody thought Kaepernick or Russell Wilson would be potential franchise QBs yet they are. Smith is the beneficiary of being drafted in a weak QB draft but he has the tools to be successful.

Dillen

Horrible example. You know the differences between Geno and those two? Physical tools. Kaepernick played in a spread offense in college, could be said to be a product of the system with quick accurate throws, put up elite #'s against zesty competition. Geno did the same.... except Kaepernick is 6'5, has a farging cannon, and runs a 4.4. Wilson is a great athlete, has a good arm, was always a great leader in college when the ACC was strong, and then when the Big 10 was strong. Nobody thought Tom Brady would be a franchise QB but is, does that help your argument?

Yes, Smith has tools to be successful. Explain in your own words how his "tools" are different than say, Andy Dalton or Kevin Kolb.

no "experts' have said hes a top ten pick....people have predicted he would go top ten...but i have not seen a single evaluator say hes a top ten pick....and everyone of them dont have him in the top 20

He's not a top 10 pick but experts are predicting he'll be a top 10 pick. Meaning he's a top 10 pick.

You just gave me two guys who were second round picks, here's what I said about Smith a few posts ago:

To me at 4 you need to select a guy who's as close to can't miss as possible. So you don't take a chance on a guy like Smith at that spot. But I don't see how it hurts to take a chance on him in the second round.

This is really all anyone needs to say. The eagles have a million holes to fill and a deep draft with which to fill those holes. Drafting a QB is a luxury that they can't afford right now. I understand the temptation but why use this year to draft a QB in the top five when there are no top five QB talents? Basically every year there is a QB available that is worthy of a top pick. This year there isn't. So don't force things. It's not like they're a rookie QB away from a superbowl right now.
Is rjs gonna have to choke a bitch?

Or that any of these rookie QBs are a lock to be winners if and when the team gets better down the line.

So, we agree that they're probably going QB at 4, right? That's really the only viable option to piss everyone off.

No shtein they're 2nd round QB's. As prospects, were Kevin Kolb and Andy Dalton franchise QB's? Because Geno is on par with them. If he's the first franchise QB in the history of the league who is only graded as a 2nd rounder, the Eagles really need to snag him.

............

QuoteBut I don't see how it hurts to take a chance on him in the second round.
Because this team sucks ass and you don't "take a shot" for no reason. If you're afraid of missing badly at 4, you should be afraid of that at 35 too, especially with no other 2nd or 3rd rounders. That pick is just as important to a team with 300 billion holes.
