I remember seeing it in the movies and loved it...not sure I teared up because that was almost 20yrs ago but I will watch it a couple times a year when its on HBO or whatever.

It is a good movie for sure.

Shawshank is another I can watch and still enjoy it each time its on

Bottom line is that the hipster fargs who want to say it's not top 50 in its decade are trying too hard.

(and I could be talking about "Gump" or "Shawshank" here)

SD

Shawshank is an all time great which should make any top 50 list regardless of the decade. It's one of those movies that whenever it's on I'll watch it. My only problem with Shawshank is it's not based off a true story. When I first saw it I assumed it was which made it's appeal that much better.

A movie that just hit that stage for me is Remember the Titans. I find myself watching it whenever it's on.

Forrest Gump had some memorable scenes but overall it was MA trash. Not only that but I was glad when Jenny died. I just wish her death had been more painful.

Kind of.  Gump would probably come in on the low end of my top50.  Good, not great to me.

Kind of surprised not to see American History X there.  Norton has one of the best performances of the 90s.

SD

I'm not, I didn't even read the whole list but as soon as I saw Starship Troopers on it I stopped reading it. It's an awful list.

Rome

I thought Gump was farging stupid.  I'm not being a movie snob saying it either.  I just didn't like it.

Rome

Also - Eyes Wide Shut at 26?   Hahaha... I think Kubrick realized how zesty that movie was and had the good sense to die rather than finish it.

I can understand if people think Gump is overrated because it probably is, but I don't see how anyone could think its trash.  SD, I know you at least had to enjoy the scene where Jenny gets smacked up by her militant boyfriend. Then again, you probably hated it when Forrest beat the shtein out of him.

"Sorry I ruined your Black Panther party."

That shtein still cracks me up.
