I hardly consider myself a troll.  It's not my fault that some on this board think every conservative is a old, rich, evil racist, and every liberal is a defender of truth, freedom, and the American dream.

It's a political thread on a discussion board, but you only want to read opinions that re-affirm your narrow-minded beliefs.

I intended to stay out of this thread and stick to talking about the Eagles, but IGY's constant bull shtein eventually forced me to respond.

As for the job numbers, please reference "How to lie with statistics."

so the republicans are confused about the new job numbers.....they are saying 114,000 is a weak number but that the white house conspired to make it up

also i was wondering is its unpatriotic to root against bad job numbers?

Republicans?? Every talking head, including ones on CNBC and MSNBC are confused by the numbers.

The numbers are confusing on first glance. They stop being confusing if you look at how they determine the unemployment number.

They do two things:

First, they survey businesses. This is where the 'new jobs created' number comes from. This number basically excludes self-employed people. It also is just a survey sampling and obviously does not include all employers in the country.

Then they do a household survey. Again imperfect.

Basically the business survey was stagnant this month while the household survey totally exploded. 870,000 additional people reported that they were employed this month. Hence the unemployment % drops.

It's no conspiracy. Unless you think that everything is a conspiracy and that the world is taking part in a wide-spread plot to discredit your favorite political team, er, party.
Is rjs gonna have to choke a bitch?

I am impressed by the amount of enthusiasm and effort many of you continue to put into this thread. Keep up the good work and the valuable use of your time.

That screeching sound you hear is the Romney momentum bus coming to a halt. He received a bump due to his strong debate but most average voters will see the 7.8% number as a sign the economy is starting to head in the right direction. The timing of this news couldn't have been better for the Obama re-election campaign.

a week ago most people were probably thinking obama is going to come out of the debate feeling good and then is gonna get hit with some bad bls numbers on friday

Nice exchange on CNBC, followed up by Grumpy John Mccain spouting off about Hawk's talking points on foreign policy.

You're right the unemployment number is looking good.  Last month is dropped by .3 percent because people dropped out of the work force.  This month is dropped because they added 870k households to the number, mostly self-employed or part-time.

The only ones excited about the job numbers today are liberals.
