is it that difficult for the nfl to farging announce a decision on this...so annoying

Browns cornerback Joe Haden was on the practice field today, meaning that he's most likely not suspended for Sunday's opener against the Eagles.

NFL spokesman Greg Aiello said today in an email that if a player is practicing on Wednesday, he's generally available for this week.

"But there is no specific timetable requirement,'' he wrote. "Each case is unique.''

Shouldn't really matter.  Rookie QB with an injured rookie RB.  No WR or TE that I think can hurt the Eagles.  Average defense without their shut-down corner.  Eagles 31 Browns 17

its more annoying than that it matters....but it does matter as far as the prediction thread....if dimitri patterson starts its probably worth and extra 10-17 pts for the eagles

this is a HUGE development...

When Reid was asked if Brown or Dion Lewis is the No. 2 running back, he said, "we'll see." Brown said he's been taking more reps this week than he has at any point, so the rookie seventh-round pick is likely in the rotation.

If his pass pro is even somewhat adequate, he is easily the best option.

Is anyone really surprised by this?  No one has ever doubted Brown's talent.  It's the wedge of olive loaf between his ears that's the concern.

Brown should be the obvious nod as the #2 back. Lewis is more of a change of pace guy. I wish Brown had a quicker second gear but that could develop as the game slows down for him a bit.

i think brown has really nice secondary level burst.....imo polk is the one that doesnt have a second gear....its really what seperates the two

I knew I was going to have to explain this further: when Brown has daylight he's fine...it's just he can't make a cut then hit that second gear. Now we're spoiled because shady is the best in the league at that but If Brown is ever going to be effective the game is going to have to slow down for him a bit. A great rb either had quick moves or great vision...the truly gifted ones have both. He has neither at this time. He's not as good as Buckhalter who was really underrated but he's better than Eldra Buckley. The skill set is there now he just has to develop.

probably best to wait until he plays a snap in the nfl before comparing him to anyone else much less all pros and guys who had ten year careers in the league....

all im saying is hes a 4.35-4.45 guy....he has a really good second gear in general and a great one for his size

Andy Reid confirmed Friday that he will use all of his linebackers, shuffling them in and out depending on the package, when the Eagles open the season Sunday at Cleveland.

Since the Eagles traded for DeMeco Ryans in March up until, really, Friday, Reid has said that Ryans is a three-down player. Now he isn't.

"I've been very happy with DeMeco," Reid said. "I'm just giving everybody an opportunity. The one thing we've got is experience with play time at positions there. Everybody's going to have an opportunity to get in and do their thing."

Ryans, rookie Mychal Kendricks, and Akeem Jordan are the starters in the base defense. Depending on the Browns' offensive alignment, any one of six - Jamar Chaney, Brian Rolle, and Casey Matthews are the other three - could be on the field in the Eagles' nickel (two linebackers) or dime (one) defenses.

"We had success with it toward the end of last year," Reid said. "Guys know their role. They can focus on it. They're all interchangeable, which is a good thing."
