take shore for example.....he is completely clueless when it comes to issues such as immigration but he votes republican because he thinks they will keep out the spics....not because they are republicans

That bullshtein is so far from the truth it ain't even funny. I've gone over that subject more than once, and all I get from here is, oh... the poor mistreated illegal immigrant. Let's give them every goddamn thing under the sun, those poor, poor hard working men and women.

Munson

Everything under the sun? No.

But if they're in our colleges or joining our armed forces, why shouldn't be be giving them a much easier, shorter way to achieve citizenship? That's a big problem with both our legal and illegal immigrants...they come here for the education, and then take their brainpower back home. That sort of brain drain is not good.

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

Because it's the faring LAW! You don't bend it, or follow just the ones that fit your agenda, or convenience.
While we're making it easier for the illegal immigrant, why don't we just flip the constitution upside down and rewrite it?

rjs246

If a law is stupid and outdated why hold it up as some sort of unassailable and righteous thing?

The whole conversation is about changing a retarded law and your argument is that it can't be changed because it's the law. Circular logic doesn't cut it.

Our awful immigration laws are the reason why so many people opt to come illegally as it is.

Or, what rusty said.

Take a look at Alabama's farming economy and what happened to it when the immigrants fled the state this past year.

LOL - what is wrong with you?

shorebird

That would be you saying that it's a stupid and outdated law. Make it easier? It is, much more so than it is in most other countries.

Christ, It makes me sick to think that there are actually people out there who want to change the laws of the land because it's too hard on some illegal cutting their grass.

You give me a good reason why immigration laws should be changed.

rjs246

Tax revenue for one. Corporations want easier immigration laws to help retain talent. There are plenty of reasons. Try reading up on it.

There's actually only one reason NOT to ease immigration laws. That reason is political and extremely jaded. Demographically, immigrants tend to vote Liberal. So if you're a conservative politician, the last thing you want is more liberals who are allowed to vote...

Oh, and racism. That's another reason.

I'm the Anti-Christ. You got me in a vendetta kind of mood.

rjs246

Haha, exactly.

So here's the thing. I could take or leave the immigration debate. I don't think there's much of a problem the way things are right now. In a lot of ways the country is better off economically with a robust illegal population to take low-wage jobs. It seems like a fair trade-off that we would leave those hard-working folks alone who are here illegally but are doing jobs that help our country run and are just trying to make a better life for themselves.

What I do have a problem with is mass deportations of harmless people. I have a problem with the rhetoric and underlying message behind the language used to justify harsh deportation policies. It smacks of xenophobia, political opportunism and racism. There's no other way to see it. That's why I tend to fall on the side of reform and amnesty. Because those who opposed it are backwards and ugly to me, not because I care much about it from a policy perspective.

Yeah, it's all about the racism. Thats just tired. Worn out. In other words, STFU.

TAX REVENUE! Now that, I can agree with, and have been saying since we've been on this disscussion, but how long do you think immigrants will work for that cheap wage that employers like so much when they have to start paying witholding? When close to a third of their checks go to the government, and they ain't getting nothing back before April 15th 'cause they don't own shtein to write off except babies. Well, a lot of 'em would qualify for earned income credit. I believe thats around three grand. But, plainly, it ain't happening. For one thing the two parties are so far apart and entrenched in thier own bullshtein that they won't be coming together on anything anytime soon.

You are blind and hopeless, that way of thinking is a lot of whats wrong with the country.

ice grillin you

i totally agree with rjs....immigration probably wouldnt even crack the top 10 list of most important issues facing the country...its a non starter

the only people who care are MA's who think the country is being overtaken by colored people...and now they are really off their rockers with the news that white babies are officially a minority in this country

the horrible economy doesnt help...as thats when the scapegoating comes out and they start blaming colored people for taking all their jobs....even tho their fat lazy asses wouldnt wash a dish pick a fruit or mow a highway median if it was the last opening on the planet
i can take a phrase thats rarely heard...flip it....now its a daily word

igy gettin it done like warrick

im the board pharmacist....always one step above yous
