I will have to go look at the rosters but another thing to consider is that traditional coverages of just having the strongside LB run with the TE are going away and we're seeing CB/S covering more.

But of all the LBs drafted this weekend only three exceeded 250lbs (Upshaw @ 272, Hightower @ 265, Ronnell Lewis @ 253). Hightower is an inside backer and Upshaw is projected as a SAM. But how well will he be able to turn and run with a faster TE?

his height is as big a concern as his weight...and it not just about covering the te altho thats a big deal its the fact that when you are in the strongside you arent freed up as much to go and make plays because you have to deal with the te and the tackle on running downs

i agree that someone like upshaw wont be able to run with te's....but why when talking about kendricks his size at sam is not a disadvantage because cb/s are covering te's more but with hightower hes to big to cover them and is at a disadvantage...cant have it both ways

imo the mike is the position that has gotten much smaller in the last 10-15 years as the league has changed....the sam probably has as well...but not searly as much...and its the one lb spot where size is still important

also upshaw and hightower are both 3-4 guys

Yeah and TEs are more pass oriented these days so their blocking isn't the best or teams eschew the extra TE to go 3WR. A guy like Hendricks who is physical can beat blocks.

I am not championing the midget LB craze by any means but gimme a physical guy and I say he can get around the size limitations.

the issue i have is that kendricks has big problems getting off blocks...he cant take anyone on...thats not someone who should be playing the strongside imo and it devalues his strengths of flying around and getting to the ball.....hes much more suited to play wil

also speaking of small if kendricks wins the sam job and rolle the wil then the eagle olb'ers will be 5-9 and 5-10

The lack of height doesn't bug me to be honest. Like I said, I am willing to see how he fares there before worrying

Rome

You should write him off as a bust before he ever plays a down.

the difference is a homer will come out and say im saying the guy is a bust...whereas a hater will be more pragmatic and look at all the pluses and minues....generally we will emphasize the negative more but overall we are far more sane

its kind of the difference btwn the right and the left

How many games of Kendricks' have you sat down and analyzed?    How much of his game film have you broken down?  How many of his coaches have you spoken to about him?

Zero, right?

Exactly.  Just like the rest of us.

ive probably watched him play five times or so.....and ive actually watched a shteinload of film on him

how much film did andy watch on jaiquan jarret jason pierre paul chris gocong or victor abiamiri??

ill go with what ive seen and you can go with your blind faith

thats all besides the point tho...the fact that i cant have concerns about a player without you flying off the handle and accusing me of calling him a bust (by the way i gave him a good grade as far as the pick) is my point...and the real funny thing is that im not even questioning the player himself...im questioning the decision to put him at a particular position

Ah yes, full circle back to the OL' SAM/WIL differentiation. Good. Good.
