My buddy called me this morning and invited me to the race tomorrow.  Same seats as last year right in front of the start/finish line.  This year's tickets come with passes to victory lane after the race ends plus the after-party.

Mock?

Sgt PSN

Even though I don't find anything entertaining about NASCAR, I only mock people who watch it on TV and wear the jackets of their favorite corporate entities drivers.  Going to a race every now and then is pretty cool though, mostly for the pre/post race festivities.  Redneck Mardi Gras.  Hey, tits are tits regardless of how many teeth are in the mouth above them.

I'm not a fan of it either but it's free and the seats are pretty much the best in the house (other than the Super Box tickets which I've sat in before).

It's like being invited to go to the Super Bowl and being given tickets at the fifty yard-line.  You go whether you're a fan or not.

It rained.  A lot.  All day.  It rained.

I'm wet.

A lot.

One of my neighbors from a few houses down the street is a huge NASCAR fan.  I saw him at the bar last night and he was all decked out with his team racing jacket, shirt, hat, etc.  Not sure which driver he roots for but Crown Royal seems to be the major sponsor.  This also means that everything the guy was wearing was purple.  He's a big dude so he basically looked like Barney if Barney had a job as a billboard.  I wanted to have a little fun with him so I asked him how much Crown Royal pays him to wear the jacket, hat and shirt.  He said they don't.  So then I asked him if they gave him all the gear for being a fan and he told me that he spent about $500 total on everything he was wearing.  This NASCAR thing is a racket....fans spending money to advertise for corporations.

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

Sgt PSN

Point taken. But the big difference is that I'm rooting for the Eagles while NASCAR fan is rooting for the driver.  The guy with the Crown Royal jacket doesn't even drink the stuff.  He just likes the driver.  So yeah, he paid good money to give free advertising for a product he doesn't even like.

ice grillin you

also if you are wearing pro sports gear it should be to rep your city not the team....i dont give a farg about the eagles....i root for philly.....in nascar you are rooting for one person....and dont ever be on another mans jock

that was a pretty cool fireball tonight. i don't know dick about nascar but why did that jet truck or whatever it's called have 200 gallons of gas in it?

Rome

It has a jet engine pointed down to dry the track surface with its exhaust.

It had two hundred gallons of jet fuel on board when it got hit.  It's actually a miracle the driver of the truck didn't get killed when Montoya hit him square on.

I had a good time last night despite the fact that the race was fairly uneventful.

Congrats to the Illinois native Danica Patrick on her win today. The first female to win in a big race with this magnitude. Big win

When people corrected him saying she only won the pole for next week's Daytona 500, he got pissed

To all the haters, in order to qualify you need to win and beat someone. Hmmm. Ponder on that one. Smh

Awesome
