Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

I'm glad someone finally decided to point out how farged up teachers are.

I actually think that little cartoon is total copout bullshtein.

Our population is not falling behind the world's educational curve because of the excuses listed there. On a case by case basis those are certainly factors, and some populations (low income areas especially) have higher percentages of those factors in play, but you can't blame the entire country's lagging educational excellence on the TV being on at home, or single-parenthood or whatever. It's not like the entirety of the school aged population is suffering from parental neglect thereby absolving teachers of any responsibility. Teachers need to do a good job with their kids, illustrate that they are doing a good job or get fired. Just like the rest of the working population. When they do a good job they should be paid handsomely for it, in my opinion, because their job is the most important one there is but making excuses and cheering stupid comics like that makes me irate. Parents need to do a good job with their kids, but that doesn't absolve teachers of all responsibility for doing their jobs.
Is rjs gonna have to choke a bitch?

Let them eat bootstraps.

The best thing you can do for your kid is to turn the tv off.

I came home the other day and the kid was watching some educational show and that's fine but there's no reason she has to watch Wizards Of Waverly Place for the fifth time.

I put a stop to it.

SunMo

but then i have to be a parent, that's way too much work for me
I'm the Anti-Christ. You got me in a vendetta kind of mood.

You know what they say, Sunny... The best part of having kids is making them.

eh, I think the cartoon was targeted more at the frothy lube the GOP works up when it comes to blaming teachers for everything, not really trying to absolve teachers from blame.

But I agree with your assessment of teacher performance...we just don't have a real great way of measuring it right now.
