Yeah, you should be good.  You can also try Ricard or Herbsaint or anisette.

QuoteA new beer maker has surged ahead to become the largest in America -- and it probably isn't the one you think.

Anheuser-Busch, the maker of the No. 1 beer Bud Light? Nope. That's a subsidiary of Anheuser-Busch InBev (BUD -2.25%), which is based in Belgium.

How about MillerCoors, which makes No. 2 beer Coors Light? Nope. MillerCoors is a joint venture of London's SABMiller (SBMRY -2.67%) and Molson Coors (TAP -1.70%), which operates out of Montreal and Denver.

The biggest U.S. brewer is now D.G. Yuengling and Son, based in Pottsville, Pa., the Allentown Morning Call reports. Yuengling saw shipments soar 16.9% last year to 2.5 million barrels. As a result, it barely squeaked into first place, surpassing Sam Adams maker Boston Beer (SAM +0.52%), which rose 8% to 2.4 million barrels.

"It just floors me that so much of our beer industry is owned by foreign concerns," Dick Yuengling, the brewery's fifth-generation owner, told the Morning Call. "We were not in any race to be the largest domestically owned brewer, but it's a tremendous honor for us."

And Yuengling's sales will likely increase for 2012 because it just started selling beer in its 14th state, Ohio, the Morning Call reported.

Yuengling's growth is even more remarkable because the industry has been in a prolonged slide. Total beer shipments fell by 1.4% last year, Advertising Age reported.

The beer industry saw another shakeup last year: Coors Light surpassed Budweiser to become the No. 2 beer. It was the first time in decades that Anheuser-Busch hasn't controlled the top two beers in the country.

I haven't had it for a while but i remember Yeungling lager being a pretty good domestic beer for the money. Have to get a 6 again to see if its changed.

I've been drinking lots of Jack Daniels, various bourbons and some outstanding scotch lately. After years of avoiding hard liquor this new trend in my behavior is both troubling and awesome.
Is rjs gonna have to choke a bitch?

If you're disciplined and stick with it, you lose the troubling part and it just becomes awesome.

Btw, any good bourbons or scotch to recommend? I've been on a Bookers kick for a while, it's usually that or Jack, which is great at $32 for a 1.75L.

The bourbon that really gave me a rager is Blanton's single barrel. It was a birthday gift and the shtein is farging delicious. The scotch I've been drinking is Lagavulin 16 which is generally accepted as a great scotch. I don't know either liquor well enough to have a discerning palate but Lagavulin is very smokey/peaty and utterly delicious.

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

Ill keep an eye out. I don't mind paying for a good bottle as long as I feel it's worth it, I'm just dont like the ones that you pay a lot more for something marginally better, although of course some of that is a matter of taste too.

My tastes have changed from the peaty types of scotch. Now I'm a big fan of Macallan. The 12 year is rich and very smooth with a great malt flavor but no real peat. For a splurge the Mac 18 is awesome. Gonna have to check out Blantons.

IGY, I decided to try and actually drink something that isnt on the rocks or straight.  What type of bourbon would you recommend for an Old Fashioned
