Hey... At least the Phillies won one. Being tired of them not winning another is better than the Eagles' version of fatigue.

this is only true if they dont trade for halladay and they dont bring cliff lee back this past offseason and they dont trade for hunter pence.....after 2008 i was set for a decade....but this years phillies team unlike the eagles was truly ALL IN in the biggest possible way and they farging fell flat on their faces....thats why it hurts so bad and it means little (at least right now and for the foreseeable future) that they won in 08
i can take a phrase thats rarely heard...flip it....now its a daily word

Rome

The fact that they won in 2008 is hardly irrelevant.  It's the best sports event of my lifetime and yours too so stop it already.

ice grillin you

its completely irrelevant today.....of course it wont be in the future...but who knows when that will be

Exactly. If the Eagles had won at least one SB I'd be happy with the 5-10 years of misery they put me through. I'm as pissed as ever over the Phillies and more so because expectations were so high but at least they got it done.

Very true.  But the most frustrating part of it is that the Phils team that won it all was the "worst" team they fielded in the last 4 years.  Each year since winning the series, they have added more pieces and progressively gotten better each season, but somehow have managed to progressively get worse each post season.  Makes no sense at all.

The 2008 team raised their level of play when they reached the postseason. This team didn't and either did last seasons team. They have just as much talent on offense as any team left in the postseason. I don't know if they rest on their laurels because they were overconfident and thought pitching was going to carry them or what but bottom line is they didn't get it done. It's why players like Cody Ross play well during the postseason, they hone in on their hitting ability and find their zone. Most teams do this by working the count and hitting balls in their zone, the Phillies chose to be overaggressive.

destroy this thread and its contents and everyone who participated in it

the thought of baseball makes me sick

farg this team i hate every last one of them
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

you mean the other thread...i cant believe there are actual phillie fans talking about next year and other ones jerking off to jose farging reyes....what has happened to our fans

its as big a disgrace as that series, if not more

like 2012 even matters. like i can stomach the though to talk about it. im still violently mad from last night and its gonna stay that way for quite some time.

seriously if they disband the franchise i wouldnt even fight it. if they moved to las vegas id let them go. they are for the time being dead to me.

and johnny riding for jose reyes is the worst of the lot. his homer coddling and worshiping of loser trannys is off the charts.

what has happened to our fans

Ok, so since I get to Philly maybe once a year I don't quite have a feel for certain things that some of the locals might.  In this case, it's the South Jersey Phillies fan that IGY has been killing for a year or 2.

But now I get it.  Reading articles from various sources on facebook today, the comments sections were just awful.  "Great season, get 'em next year guys!" type shtein.  So I click on these nimrod's profiles, and the ones that weren't set to private were almost all from somewhere in S. Jersey.  It was really quite nauseating.  That's maybe a fine attitude after the 07 season or for your kid's little league team but that's about it.

Makes me hate Jersey even more.

It's amazing how the fanbase has turned into a bunch of softies. I'm not advocating violence or any of that nonsense that used to go on but we used to be known as knowledgable and tough. I liked that. Loud and belligerent. Not scream for every farging fly ball. Not go to the park because there's nothing else to do. Not farging give a player some goddamn personalized cheer when he is 0-for-farging-ever.

In the airport today there was people buying Phillies playoffs stuff! While on the train platform I heard the same farging get-em-next-year horseshtein.

I farging unpacked my bag and took out every thread of shtein with a farging Phillies logo on it. I will not wear that shtein for awhile. Repacked it with Eagles and Flyers and Sixers.

Lie?  No.  I suspect you're an honest chap when you aren't stealing paychecks at your cushy gov't job.  But you have established a bit of a reputation for hyperbole and gross generalizations so in cases like the S Jersey fan thing, I usually take what you say with a grain of pepper.
