Dbacks would have been a cake walk, IMO. They're like the 07 Phillies....young and upcoming, but not quite there yet.

Hopefully the Cards just can't touch the Phil's aces at their best.

perhaps you could explain sd's reasons for "disliking" it as well since you seem to be so in tune with other peoples minds

Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

la russa is a horrendous manager and a total dick so you really dont know

But 3 days rest would still be game 2.  G1 will Jaime Garcia or Kyle Lohse

unless the phils win it all they are no better than the braves...in fact you can even make the argument that if the philies dont win it all its a worse finish than the braves...especially with the red sox collapse....theres no good teams left except for the phillies

there was a great line in the sports illustrated piece that ive been preaching pretty much since they beat tampa.....

"The Yankees have 27 World Series and we've got two in 100-some years? And the last one was against Tampa—that's not even a big-boy championship! We've got to win one more World Series, we've got to beat New York or Boston—or it isn't heaven. It's just purgatory."

its dumb to say it would be purgatory if they won another ws but you cant underplay how important uit would be for them to beat the yanks to win it all this year

and god forbid they dont win it all this year i have to imagine it will be the single greatest sports disappointment of my life and im not sure id ever get over it....flyers in 87 would be a close second...still trying to work that one out of my system
i can take a phrase thats rarely heard...flip it....now its a daily word

igy gettin it done like warrick

im the board pharmacist....always one step above yous

You and sports illustrated are alike in many ways, you both love sports, and you both have a lot of issues.

The Phils were 6-6 against the Braves this season before September. Then this happened:
QuoteMon 9/5    @PHI 9, ATL 0
Tue 9/6    @PHI 6, ATL 3
Wed 9/7    @PHI 3, ATL 2
Mon 9/26    PHI 4, @ATL 2
Tue 9/27    PHI 7, @ATL 1
Wed 9/28    PHI 4, @ATL 3

Also, they were 10-15 in September against everyone else.

charlie

the phils singlehandedly sent the braves home... 6 winvs vs the braves, 3 losses vs the cardinals.

PoopyfaceMcGee

Now they have to demolish the Cards, or there will be a lot of Monday Morning QBs questioning their tactics.

Frankly, I think that to be the best, you have to beat the best. Bring on the Cards, Brewers, and Yankees.

charlie

I don't see how you can "question" tactics when it involves two sweeps of a division rival. Clinching the division with 20 games left, and having the best regular season in your franchise history.

So, if they happen to lose to the cardinals, there's going to be a lot of people suggesting they should have just lost more games?

ice grillin you

how farging annoying is it that we are 48 hrs from the start of the nl playoffs and we cant get a start time for the games

they're probably reeling from the loss of the boston tv market.
